Look: It pours dark brown with a tan head. Head retention is very good.
Smell: Strong sweet spices with cinnamon and ginger.
Taste: The ginger and cinnamon and prominent in the flavor as well with some caramel and low roast. There is a hint of smoke as well.
Feel: It has a medium body with a semi sweet finish.
Overall, the aroma and flavors are good, but dominate to a degree that any of the porter elements are lost. To me, it would have been better if the traditional porter elements were more in balance with the spices.

Appearance: Arrives with the liquid colored coffee brown and capped by a film of foam; a few squiggles and spots line the pint glass on the way down
Smell: Somewhat roasty, with ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon tones complementing the hint of chocolate
Taste: The holiday spices make a strong appearance, up front, and complement the roast and chocolate; the spices linger through the finish though the sweeter malt tones dominate
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Tastes like Dewey's Moravian cookies were crumbled into my porter - yum!

Never had a Moravian cookie before but got a free pack with this porter...wich is not retired.Pours a deep walnut brown with a creamy light beige head atop.A nice mix of roast and and warming clove, allspice and ginger spice,a light note of molasses is there as well.Fine balance on the palate as well with some roast up front with mild molasses-like sweetness and warming clove and ginger spice in the finish.I really like this beer,a great holiday porter.

Poured ontap in a shaker pint, the beer is a very dark, brown to black color, with an oily halo of tan head. Aromas of chocolate, fig, date, subtle roasted coffee bitter, and subtle tangy toffee. Flavors of bitter roasted coffee and rich cocoa nib forward, with rich, old world fruit undertones. Earthy highlights, with hints of smoke and char, too. The body is slick and dry, with a heavily roasted and chocolate aftertaste. Slick, robust, dry finish. Good beer.

A: Pours a relatively clear though almost opaque very dark brown in color with light amounts of active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some moderate cola brown highlights. The beer has a quarter finger tall foamy beige head that quickly reduces to a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of roasted malts with lighter aromas of ginger, citrus/orange, and spices (nutmeg + cinnamon). Very light hints of molasses.
T: Upfront there are light flavors of roasted malts with a light to moderate amount of molasses sweetness. That is followed by a moderate flavor of slightly sweet citrus/orange and ginger with a light amount of spice flavors (cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice). Minimal amounts of bitterness is present in the finish and does not linger.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: A very nice winter beer with a nice combination of spices, citrus, and malts without too much sweetness. It does very much remind me of the flavors of the cookies but not as sweet. Definitely worth grabbing one.
