The beer arrived on the bar clear deep copper with and off white frothy head which was lasted well to lace the glass.

The aroma was toasty with a nutty Munich malt character. The aroma also was a bit earthy and just lightly spicy with hops.

The flavor was mineral in nature, more akin to a bitter, but was fairly clean. Only a lightly fruity presence was notable and a light caramel character.

The finish was dry with light lasting toasty flavors into the aftertaste. The body was medium with a moderate carbonation level. A nice beer, could be more assertively bittered.

Pint at the Flying Saucer in Raleigh.

appearance: The thin white head produced when pouring out of the growler recedes to a thin ring. The beer is a medium chestnut brown in color.

smell: Clean, nutty malts with a hint of burnt toffee on the nose. Crisp German hop aroma.

mouthfeel: The carbonation is medium, and the body light.

taste: Nitty and lightly toasted malts upfront. A little German character, maybe from the noble hops I expect were used, which are slighly spicy. The finish is clean and nutty with a light bitterness.

drinkability: The drinkability is high...this is a very solid beer with an almost perfect balance.

From my first visit to the brewpub, on my way back from Linville. Growler opened about a week later...review entered from notes.

Purchased a growler of this last week. Pours a dark amber to light brown color with a half finger sized head. Nice retention and nice lacing down the glass as well.

Aroma is nutty and caramel and dark fruit. Toasty breads. Earthy hop tones but the hops seem pretty mellow.

Taste is extremely nutty and bready. Almost tastes like a nut brown. Hops definitely come out a little more in the taste; they offer a bitterness rather than a fruitiness to the beer. Very tasty indeed.

Nice carbonation and a clean and dry mouthfeel. Borderline crisp. A tasty brew indeed. My second alt but this is my favorite of the two.

A bit on the hoppy side for an Alt, but still a good beer. Has a nice amber, crystal clear color. White fluffy head, moderate carbonation with nice head retention. Aromas are lightly malty, bready, toasty, yeasty, and with a touch of caramel. Hop character plays nicely on the front. Tastes similar to aromas, but add bittering (not flavoring) hops. Light to moderate in the mouth. Very clean and crisp flavor. Finishes moist and hoppy. Leaves the palate quickly.

Pours a very nice bronze with a one finger tight head held well for quite awhile, aromas of roasted nuts and toasted malt with a peppery-like scent underneath made me wanna dive in.somewhat sweet and caramelly upfront but very nice spicey, peppery dry flavor really hits midway and makes this beer stand out.Alt is a style when done right with a peppry/spicey finish is one of my favorites and this one hits it,very food friendly this something I could drink alot of amongst friends for sure.
