English Porter |  5.80% ABV

Notes/Commercial Description:
People's Porter is a robust English-style brew with a dark, ruby hue. Complex chocolate, caramel and toffee notes give way to an herbal bitterness, finishing with a pleasant hint of espresso.

Poured a deep ruby-tinted brown with a pillowy tan head. The head has incredible retention and leaves substantial lacing. The aroma is a malt-lovers dream with big roasted notes of coffee and hints of chocolate. The aroma is similar but includes some mild earthy hops on the finish. The beer feels a little light on the palate, but not so much that I would call it "watery". A great big flavor English Porter.

A - Small head, not much lacing, decent color.

S - Nice roasted coffee and sweet chocolate aromas. Almost like a milk stout.

T - Lots of bitterness and roasted nuts. Not a lot of chocolate taste compared to smell.

M - A bit thin and some oiliness.

O - A decent porter. If it tasted like it smelled, it wouold be top notch. Still pretty good and very drinkable.

I've had this on tap as well, but this review is from the ol' bottle

A: beautiful dark brown/black color. opaque, except around the edges. A finger or so of khaki head that faded fairly quickly

S: Didn't get much off of the smell. Some roastiness and chocolate, but nothing special

T: Like I remember on tap...lots of dark chocolate and roasty notes in this one. Some bitterness on the end to give it some balance.

M: Good carbonation. A little thin, but I've been drinking mostly stouts so this is probably correct for a porter. Fairly dry

O: I really enjoyed this beer! It didn't blow my mind in any way, but a well done porter.

Look - Dark Brown almost black on the pour. Thought to myself it was to good to be true. The head; 2 finger breadths thick, light khaki in color.

Smell - I'm picking up the smell of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and caramel aromas; a touch of roasted coffee coming through in the middle. I'm very excited to try this beer

Taste - Let's see how to describe this beer...Dark and intense chocolate malt, toffee, and vanilla slap you in the face but in a sexy way. The subtleness of the hops is less sweet but complement the beer in a fantastic way.

Mouth feel - Rich, creamy, and full bodied. It's pleasantly carbonated. I wish more porters could pull this feel off

I will definitely be drinking this one again, I love a good porter...

People's Porter has a medium, beige, soapy head, a dark-brown, opaque appearance, with brown highlights. The aroma is of slightly sweet, somewhat astringent, with a vegetable (celery) smell. Taste is of the same strange thistle-like flavor, some powdery chocolate, and roasted barley malt. Bitterness is low, and the alcohol doesn't show itself. Mouthfeel is light and fairly slick, and People's Porter finishes semi-dry and decently drinkable. Maybe, another batch would be better.
