People's Porter is a robust English-style brew with a dark, ruby hue. Complex chocolate, caramel and toffee notes give way to an herbal bitterness, finishing with a pleasant hint of espresso.

12oz bottle; thanks Patrick!

A: Black body, dark brown highlights, and two fingers of fine tan head that settle slowly into a thick ring and leave lots of lace. Extremely attractive.

S: NIcely aromatic, with a strong mixture of dark fruit and coffee. Lots of raisin, dark chocolate, and char. Really good.

T: Sweet raisin up front, instantly overwhelmed by piquant coffee. Midway through the chocolate and smoky char notes come to the fore, with some earthy hops bitterness anchoring the finish. The aftertaste is a little on the bitter and watery side, but other than that it's really quite nice.

M: Definitely on the light-bodied side of the style, with lots of lively, spritzy carbonation. A little too...carefree for a Porter.

O: Very enjoyable, with some nice intensity especially in the aroma. The back end of the flavor was a bit of a letdown comparatively, as was the mouthfeel - both a little watery and astringent. Still, I like to see a Porter go for broke on the roasty/bitter end of the spectrum.

Cheers!

A - Very dark brown, almost black. Thick brown head with decent retention falling to a thin cap. Faint, spotty lacing.

S - Rich malts, chocolate, espresso up front. Underneath there is some earthy smells, some faint floral hops, and a little bit of vanilla.

T - Good malts mainly with a chocolate and espresso flavor throughout. The vanilla is also detectable. Finishes with a slight hops bitterness and a little bit of a coffee like bitterness.

M - Perfect for a porter in my opinion. Nice body, not watery or over carbonated and not as full as a stout.

O - Another great beer from foothills. Not something I would buy all the time but definitely something I would buy again.

Bottle > Pint Glass

A - Nice blackened brown color, two finger thick khaki head, no lacing.
S - Nice roasty aroma, toasted grains and a good toffee sweetness, mild earthy undertones, some wood chips and a nice vanilla scent.
T - Good roasted and sweet balance, but the taste fades to this mildly metallic quality then just disappears, there's a good bitterness here too, but I was hoping for something a little more creamy.
M - Thin, and metallic aftertaste, meh.
O - A good generic porter, aroma is spot on but taste and mouthfeel leave a lot to be desired.

22oz. bottle poured into an imperial pint.

A- 1-1/2 finger brown head. Near black body with reddish hues near the edges. Good retention and awesome stick.

S- lots of dark chocolate and coffee at first. Maybe some light berry notes. A little roast, even char. Maybe even a little vanilla to compliment the chocolate and coffee. Brown sugar later on.

T- Nice and roasty, edging toward charred toast. Lots of dark chocolate and dark roast coffee notes. Hopping combines with bitter chocolate and coffee to become pretty significant. A little citrus-like and leafy/minty.

M- a little chalky. Medium-light carbonation. Quite dry.

O- A very solid porter. Straight forward and an easy drinker.
