Hoppy but balanced, not too intense, very drinkable. Since it's available year round and can be found locally, this might be a new staple in my fridge!

Reminded me a lot of sierra Nevada's torpedo, which is decent and drinkable but not a favorite.

Aroma/Flavor: Light caramel, pine, and fruitiness on the nose & palate. Medium level of apparent bitterness. Maybe a touch of rye?

Mouthfeel: Medium light body, dry finish.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- has a strong hops and forest aroma, pretty nice
Appearance- A copper yellow color with a small white head.
Taste- A very hoppy brew, nice flavor a little tart with a dry finish.
Palate- A light to medium brew with moderate carbonation with a dry finish and a nice tart aftertaste.
Overall- Not a bad beer at all, I would drink this again.

12 oz bottle, dated 10/23/14, poured into a tulip glass.

A - clear copper body with a thin off white head.Good lacing and decent retention.

N - American hops with citrus (grapefruit) and pine. Smells of freshness even though it's two and a half months old.

T - a little mellower than the Roseburg mostly hoppy. A little spicy and a background of light biscuits.

M- fair carbonation and a nice smooth feel.

O - a very nice american ipa. Nothing wow or anything but definitely good. Cheers!

It seems each time I get Hoppyum every 4-6 months or so, I expect more hops. Nice look and foam, good approachable piney hop smell, but this beer is very much an even malt and hop balance with a bit of bite from both. The hops are on the organic, bitter side, so don't expect a smooth hop taste. Even with the bite, settles evenly and nicely on the tongue. Bought a six pack, but if this isn't your style, try one first.

Got it in a trade and was a little old. Looked good and had a pretty nice taste at first. But had a very odd smell and taste afterwards. Its hard to descrbe like a tart/resin/alcohol bite that lingers on the tongue. Not too great.

10.99 for a six pack, almost didn't get it because of the artwork on the bottle but oh well I wanted to try it. Had a a nice aroma and strong citrus flavor. Overall not a bad beer.

Rating comes after getting this one in a trade. I opened it , poured and checked the look of things. When I smelled it I didn't get the hop kick I figured I would. I tasted it and knew it was old. I didn't realize how old. Just over 1 year... should be an option for not rating just to track.

Picked up a 6 pack in NC.

Decent nose. Nice mix of tropical/grapefruit and pine. its got a pretty legit malt backbone, similar to harpoon or other new england IPA's. Its not lackluster in the hops department though. Akin to a torpedo IPA or something similar. Nothing worth going banana's over, but if you looking for a basic IPA this definitely fits the bill.

Purchased at a gas station in the middle so nowhere driving from Tennessee to Florida. From bottle, poured into tulip.

A: Orangey-brown. Some'd call it copper, but I wouldn't go that far.

A: Grape skin and peachy aromas. Tartness with maltiness. Some stereotypical IPA pineiness and resininess as well.

T: A well balanced piney/hoppy IPA. Good bite and lingering flavors. Not overly complex or sweet or bitter. Nectarine/peach fruit flavors at the forefront, with a clean pine/resin followthru.

M: Perfect carbonation and mouthfeel. Crisp and perfect to accompany a greasy burger and fries or steak.

O: I'd rate this beer among the best lighter IPAs out there, including Bell's Two Hearted (a personal favorite). Not an exacted replica with the all the yummy grapefruitiness of 2<3'd that I love, but this one definitely hits the spot.

Local tap at Fox and Hounds in Raleigh.
Pours slightly hazy, coppery orange with a tight head. Foam fades bur doesn't disappear, thin lace.
Smell is of citrusy hops, very nice.
Taste has some biscuit malt, then lots of citrus herbal hops.
This beer has a medium body and a slightly sticky mouth feel. Good level of carbonation makes it easy to drink.
Overall, this is a good A IPA with a nice balance between the malt and hops.

This is a nice IPA that is easy to drink (for an IPA that is). I really enjoyed it as a quick beer, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone who was in want of something more complex. Tastes great without being bland.

Bottle as a trade extra. Thanks! Pours clear golden orange with a big fluffy and creamy white head. Very pretty. Nice floral aroma that had some hay, lots of sweet mango, light grapefruit, citrus peel, nice lightly sweet malts in the backdrop. Flavor is grass, a hint of mango, sweet generic malts, a bit of funky hop presence, and a slightly off finish. Medium plus bitterness. Medium light bodied, plus carbonation, dry of the finish. Overall a perfectly pleasant IPA that would be very very good if not for the tinge of off flavor in the finish. Worth drinking.

Grapefruit, resin, pine, tangerine, lightly catty notes, and a hint of caramel malt form the aroma. Tropical fruit notes of mango emerge. Fairly complex hop character. Flavor reveals more resin dominance at the base, with pine carrying into the bitter finish. Toasted malt serves only to tie the hop flavor together. Grapefruit pith and tangerine are far overpowered by the resiny hop onslaught. It's more bitter than I prefer, with a bit of harshness at the finish. Loved the aroma, but wish the fruit had carried through more prominently. The finish kills it for me.

A potent and aromatic beer that is full of lovely, heady hop flavor. This is a top hops beer, with a nice nose and a really strong mouthfeel of bitterness that is not lingering and overpowering. For a low ABV IPA, it is has a lovely profile and it is significantly unique. A very enjoyable, thick flavor of hops, grapefruit and citrus notes covered a nice delectable malt base. Very impressive selection.

A 12 oz bottle picked up at Brusin Ales in Asheville, NC

A - Amber with some clarity. Half a finger of head.

A - Balance between bitter and citrus hops. Fairly sweet

T - A well balanced hoppy brew! Grapefruit and citrus flavors are balanced with the malty backbone. Bitter aftertaste.

M - Medium bodied and very well carbonated. Oily and slick

O - A very good well balanced IPA, but it doesn't close the deal like the top of the line IPA's do. But its close.

Pours a light amber color with a small tight off-white head. Not much lacing on the glass.

Nice grapefruit and pine hop aroma. Some tropical fruit and apricot notes as well. A hint of honey sweetness from the malt. A bit too much on the sweet side for my preference.

Similar taste as in the aroma, except much more earthy. Light grapefruit and a rather large pine burst kick things off. There is a bit of pineapple to provide some sweetness. Finishes with an aspirin/resiny note. The beer hits a pretty wide spectrum of hop flavors. The malt is substantial but doesn't really affect the flavor except to provide a bready base to balance the hops.

Moderate body with fizzy carbonation. Quite bitter on the palate but not overly so. A bit dry in the finish. A little lingering bitterness but not awful. 3.75

A very solid bitter IPA.
