A new and improved IPA from Foothills no name given yet but from the sever says a good chance it will be called hoppieum (spelled correctly),poured a brilliant clear bronze with a thinner white head.A hop attack on the nose grapefruit and pine dominate a mild caramel malt aroma underneath as well, very resiney, piney flavors up front the lightly sweet malt base is there just enough for those who might not like their stuff overly bitter as I drank more I picked up of an herbal finish.Quite dry and immensly quaffable for my money the best standard NC brewed IPA out there a notch above Shiva brewed in Asheville.I had to bring a growler home with me.

Thanks to Jackthebear for this 650ml bottle. Poured it into my Odell's IPA flute glass. Poured a very nice light amber color with a off=white head. My impressions were it was a very clean a pretty looking beer.

Smell - Was wonderful floral grapefruit notes. My favorite aspects of this beer.

Taste - Nice smooth start and middle to this beer not overly bitter and was pleasing. Had a bit of an after taste that I was not fond of. This is why it brought my score down.

Mouthfeel - was a bit thin

Overall not a bad drinker and will have no problem finishing the bottle but not one I am in love with either.

A- cloudy, with a beautiful burnt orange color, tons of pieces of hops and yeast chunks despite only pouring 3/4 of the bottle. Just a few off white bubbles in place of a head. I'm fine with not filtering but give me a warning and don't carry over the hops!

S- pungent, resinous, and dank with blackberry, raspberry and kiwi. Strong caramel sweetness and a touch of herbal also in the mix.

T- relatively light, citrusy flavors. Middle is a biscuity malt which fades to fairly high, astringent bitterness. Columbus hops seem to dominate with a Simcoe pine character also present but little citrus or juicy character.

M- thin, lightly carbonated. The thinness seems to accentuate the bitter finish but does little else for the beer.

O- this one was a disappointment. A few muddled, stale malt flavors and a bunch of bitter, astringent, medicinal pine is all that really comes through. Oh, and it's ugly.

Pours typical honey amber, fairly calm under a light khaki head, leaving copious amounts of sheeting a streaked lacing. Resiny hop nose. This is a full flavor and quite tasty IPA. Quality evident, easy drinking. Wish I could get this locally. Nice job Foot Hills

Cheers to khiasmus for a growler of this brew in a trade. Pours dark amber with a nice head. Smells mostly of citrus hops. Taste is mostly citrus hops but very smooth. ABV is reasonable & the beer is very drinkable so this would be a great session IPA. Recommended.

Golden amber colored with decent clarity and a minuscule bit of foam covering part of the top of the beer. Faint piney hop aroma. The taste is much more bitter than the aroma implies. Deep pine hop flavor that definitely grows in intensity throughout the fade. The bitterness from the hops definitely pricks the tongue.

an outstanding extra from kflack! thanks kevin

22oz bottle slightly above fridge temp poured into a snifter. no freshness date.

pours out a huge fluffy 3 fingers of white head. very nice retention with lots of sticky lace. a clear amberish orange color. looks like an ideal IPA.

the intial aroma is piney with earthy and metallic notes. it improves much more as it warms up introducing some dank almost resinous hops. lots of green grassy notes. under that there is some citrus with quite a bit of bready, sticky caramel malt. maybe a touch of tropical fruits way back there.

a hoppy taste, but it has a very nice balance. pine and grapefruit citrus are cut nicely by a biscuity, bready, sticky caramel malt. a nice grassy bitter finish.

a very smooth and clean feel to this beer. crisp bitterness. medium bodied, maybe just slightly too much carbonation for the style. but overall i enjoyed the way this beer felt on my palate.

a very sessionable hoppy ipa yet still with a nice balance, i could see buying this if it was available to me. very happy i got the chance to enjoy this.

This is real beer. It is authentic. One of a kind, but easy to find. My new favorite go-to beer. Refreshing crisp taste. Always tastes fresh and not like it has been sitting on a shelf for a year. As far as IPAs go it isn't bitter or biting. It is balanced, smooth, and has great flavors. Goes well with most foods but also great on it's own.
