22oz bottle into Harpoon IPA imperial pint glass; served with just a slight chill
A - Pours a clear orange with just a foamy head that dissipates fairly quickly.
S - Hops and more hops; very complex mix too, with a hint of sweetness
T - A bit of sweet caramel malt up front, which is quickly hit with a blend of hops that are fairly assertive but not "in your face". Hops are pine-y with a bit of citrus and are lip-smacking and tasty. Dry finish with a bit of lingering sweetness. Makes you want to take another sip.
M - Not too much carbonation; appropriate for the style. This beer is pretty right-on because of the moderate ABV; not too heavy, not too thin.
This really is a great example of a drinkable, complex, tasty IPA. The low ABV (for an IPA these days) makes this fairly sessionable as well. This is a go-to IPA in this area, and am happy to give a thumbs-up for this Foothills offering.

This is real beer. It is authentic. One of a kind, but easy to find. My new favorite go-to beer. Refreshing crisp taste. Always tastes fresh and not like it has been sitting on a shelf for a year. As far as IPAs go it isn't bitter or biting. It is balanced, smooth, and has great flavors. Goes well with most foods but also great on it's own.

On-tap at the Oxford in Raleigh, NC on 20 June 2014.
Pours clear medium amber. One finger of off-white head, good retention, fantastic lacing covering the inside of the glass.
Smell is faint, more earthy than anything else, with an herbal slant. Not much there.
Taste is just straight up plain bitter. Pretty one-dimensional. A little grain in front. Rather chalky. Meh
Feel is okay. Medium-heavy, enough carbonation. Unremarkable.
A simple, straightforward IPA. Not a whole lot to it, other than enough bitterness to cover any subtle flavors but not enough to be a palate wrecker.
