22oz bomber from Tasty Beverage Co. in Raleigh. Poured into a St. Bernardus goblet...
A: Black with a 1-finger, light coffee head; no retention or lace; just a glass o' blackness.
S: Well, obviously oaky bourbon barrel; sweet; not much else - the barrel aged aroma masks the typical chocolate / roasty aroma.
T: Oak barrel; root beer(?); vanilla; chocolate and roasted malt on the end... there's the porter; great taste - the barrel flavor doesn't overdo it and does a good job complementing the chocolate and sweet malts.
M: Medium-bodied; moderate carbonation; a good balance of sweet and dry; nice.
O: A really nice barrel aged porter - nice blend of flavors - barrel doesn't mask the other tastes... I wish more barrel aged beers were like this.
