22oz, 2011 vintage
HF Wine Glass

A: Pours pitch black, maybe some reddish hues on edges. Really didn't get much head. Thin layer of light tan head. Forms a ring around edges. Some alcohol feet.

S: Definitely getting some muted vanilla notes. Chocolate, but no where near as much as with a fresh bottle of the regular version of this brew. Light roast coffee. Some woody notes are there.

T: Pulling lots of creamy chocolate and vanilla on the first sip. It's really pleasant. The bourbon isn't overpowering at all and actually seems to have nicely faded into a caramel like vanilla hint. No booze at all. Very easy drinking. Nice long finish with flavors coming up a little more as it warms and you sip on it.

M: Full bodied and creamy.

What a great beer. My first BASC.
2012 bottle poured into a small tasting glass shared with several friends

A - Rich dark black color with very little head.

S - Rich, chocolatey, bourbony smell. All the scents are very easy to pick out and seem very balaced.

T - Everything seems very balanced in this one. Cocoa, vanilla, bourbon. All came through, but none overpowering. My only regret is that this is that I'm tasting the BASC and I've never had the regular SC. Hoping to grab a couple of bottles at the release in a few weeks.

M - Nice thick body with very little head/carbonation coming through. Exactly what I would expect from a strong BA stout.

O - I've heard mixed reviews about the regular version of SC, but I'm very happy with the BA version. Wish I had more...

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at mrbubbler's "end of the world" tasting.

2012 vintage.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, bourbon, and wood. Taste is much the same with an alcohol kick on the finish. There is a mild roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some solid barrel aged aromas and flavors.

2012 Vintage to snifter.

A - Dark black with a thin layer of medium brown head that quickly reduced to a few scattered bubbles.

S - Bourbon, oak and vanilla dominate as the barrel qualities take centre stage. A big chocolate fudge aroma is also present.

T - A huge cocoa nib flavour up front that gives way to the barrel qualities - oak, bourbon and vanilla. Some lighter molasses notes and a touch of dark caramel. A little bit hot but not distractingly so.

M - Medium to full body. A time, fairly viscous but the mouth feel is slightly inconsistent. Light carbonation.

O - A really good beer and much better than the regular version. Good integration of the base beer and the barrel.

22 ounce bomber from the 2012 release.

A: Pours a very dark brown/black color with a 1 finger head and very nice lacing.

S: Dark chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon, roasted malts, and fruit aromas.

T: Mmmm. Now that's what I call a good beer! Amazing roasted malts, nuts, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, and some faint coffee flavors.

M: Medium bodied with nice carbonation.

O: I'm so glad I live close to the brewery and have a chance to try all of their great beers. The Sexual Chocolate is a great beer, but this is even better. I'm an IPA guy, but beers like this make me second guess my beer choices sometimes.
