I saw that this place was on the BeerFly guide for Providence and since I moved farther from Nikki's and just wanted to pick up a cold 6 pack, I figured I'd check it out. I was actually somewhat impressed. While the selection wasn't mind blowing, it was better than average, especially when looking at this place that looks like your standard liquor store in a lower class neighborhood. I picked up a 6 pack of 60 Min IPA. Other notables I saw were 2 Unibroue beers, Raison D'Etre, and Hooker Blonde. They had mostly wine in the store and the beer was confined to the cooler. More than half the cooler was dedicated to micros and crafts. They didn't have anything too extreme, and they didn't have more than 2 beers from any single brewery (Sam Adams being the exception as they had all their beers, and they had some mix packs from Harpoon and Magic Hat). I was surprised to see no Newport Storm being a RI brewery. They didn't have too many smaller imports, pretty much all the standards.

The cashier was very friendly and asked me if I had ever had the beer before and then asked me about Raison d'Etre, as he had never tried that one. I'll definitely be going back there when I need to pick up some standards. The 60 Min came to about $9 after tax.

I visited Acme Liquors for one reason only...Thomas Hooker brews.
They are conveniently located just outside downtown Providence.
The place is fairly small, but I was fortunate enough to grab one of their few Imperial Porters...one of the last Barleywines, and their Hop Meadow IPA.
Selection is decent, but the only reason I would go back is for my fix of Thomas Hooker brews. The other micros that were there are also at my usual places (Downtown and Bauer).
The gentleman working there was real friendly and was more than happy to shoot the sh*t w/ me.
A big thanks to Diversified Imports...getting Thomas Hooker that much closer to my pad.
