A: A black color but some ruby and brownish highlights coming through when palced to the light. A finger of dark tan head appears but is gone a bit soon. Lacing is minimal.

S: Dark malts with the most prominent being munich, a bit of roast.

T: Sweet maltiness backed by some roast character along with a proper dose of hop bittering. Raisin like malt character , I'm guessing from heavy amounts of munich or maybe some special B. A bit to much roastiness for a black lager IMO. It feels like the middle ground of a stout and black lager instead of being true to style. Coffee like roast. No real present hop flavor.

M: Pretty thin and a bit lack luster.

O: Not really my deal. Its in a bit of an awkward place though. The malt character seems between a stout and BL but the mouth feel is definitely a BL. Decent but probably wouldn't buy again.

My fiance brought this back from Montreal. Even though I got a lot of beer out of her vacation, I'm already wishing I'd have asked for more than just a bottle of this one, what a pleasant surprise!

A: Dark brown with a light caramel brown head. Looks very nice and just right for the style.

S: An inviting roasty-toasty aroma with definate chocolate and coffee aromas.

T: Very intense for a 5%er. Smooth coffee and milk chocolate that is reminiscent of hot chocolate powder mixed into an iced latte.

M: Starts creamy, with a dry finish with a little bit of a farm fresh milk lactose tang. Lovely.

D: I could easily session this beer. I'm hoping that 3M sees fit to export this the same way they do some of their bombers, I could definitely see buying a 6-pack of this if I were to see it on the shelf.

A Black Lager as the Label States.

Smell - mild roasted coffee with nutts. Very creamy smell.

Taste - Light coffee, chocolate with a hint of bitterness. Very smooth and not overpowering. Almost like a light porter. A little honey and vanilla in there as well.

I like this one, could drink a few for sure. Enjoyable.

I enjoyed this in a pint glass and allowed it to warm for approximately 10 minutes out of the fridge. An excellent example of the style. Minimal lacing and head. Distinctive chocolate and caramel notes. Wonderful as a dessert beer to pair with dark chocolate, dates, figs or spiced nuts.

Some have suggested it as a session beer but I'm not sure that I would want more than two bottles of it at a sitting. I whole-heartedly recommend you try it. Cheers

341ml bottle poured into a Trois Mousquetaires glass.

A : Black (obviously) with some light brown reflections. There is some lacing on the glass. The head goes down quickly.

S : Really light nose, chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Nothing really special here.

T : Some sweetness from the malt, the taste is light.

The beer itself is easy to drink. For a beginner, this beer would be best to discover the type.

Pours noire with a finger of creamy tan head. Aromas of creamy chocolate malt, burnt toffee and faint hops, a little sourness. Full-bodied yet crisp and refreshing with plenty of malt sweetness and a bitter bite of dark chocolate at the end. Lots of flavor and nice carbonation and at 5%ABV it’s not too heavy. I probably wouldn’t drink more than one but it’s not a bad beer.

A : Pours a nice opaque black beer topped with compact beige head. Retention and lacing is medium.

S: Hum, interesting. Definitely can smell that ther seems to be good hops work in te recipe but the predominant smell is really the torefaction one.

T: Good! Reminds of fresh ground coffee and roasted nuts also. A good bitter taste but not to overpowering.

M : Light really but I guess that's alright for the style aimed.

D: Excellent. Not a so special beer, but a good localy brewed beer with flavor. That's a keeper in the fridge for these moments.

347ml bottle

A: deep almost opaque brown, finger of head falls off quickly to lace and ring on edge

S roast malt aromas of coffee, hint of chocolate

T roast malt coffee flavours open, rolls into tart mid pallet with smoothness coming through from hops and carbonation, and a tangy lingering bitter finish of coffee, chocolate

M Light-medium body, good carbonation enhances the creaminess of the mid pallet.

D An enjoyable schwarzbier, a good pairing with desert.

Picked this as part of the Les Trois Mousquetaires mix pack in Quebec.

A : A nice dark color with a beautiful three fingers creamy brown head. Look very appealing and looking forward this taste this one.

S : I smell a roasted coffee aroma right off, maybe also some woody character.

T : Dark chocolate feel with just enough bitterness. Touch of coffee toward the end

M : Very fluid and light body, not as thick I one could expect when pouring, carbonation is good

D : Very drinkable, I'd grab another any time.
