Corked 750mL from Broue Ha Ha in Gatineau. Brewed in August of this year.

Poured into a dimpled stein. Brilliant colour on this: a deep ruby toffee, that is slightly hazy, and with a head of decent height and retention. Some lacing bits.

Nose is bread, cereal grains, toffee, caramel and perhaps some dark fruit.

Nice, easy drinking brew. Very malty, good fresh grain character, a little bit of hop bitterness and grape near the finish. Reasonably hearty for a 4%er.

Thin bodied, slight creaminess, carbonation is brief but zesty.

I find it hard to review Oktoberfest brews because I feel they all taste very similar. This one is well made, to be sure, but doesn't do anything overly special. It's just a solid Oktoberfest brew. If you are able to acquire one for the season, certainly do so, but it's nothing to get too excited about. Might be a difference between editions.

Havent had a Trois Mousquetaires for a while and this was my first one to pair with my wife's Tsvetaevski (A Russian Apple pie)

Browmish with some amber hues, the head is a very foamy creamy one that quickly shy away.

Smell is dried fruits, why malt with a hint of caramel.

The taste at first is very sweet and malty again dried fruit with some hints of spices. Smooth overall.

750 ml bottle, dated 18/08/2017. Drank 02/02/2018 (~ 6 months). Poured into a tapered flute glass.

Look: A copper red-orange, slightly dark, drink with lots of head and whispy lacing.

Nose: Malts, wheats, grains.

Taste: Very docile, slightly sweet taste with some noticeable hops. Grains on the finish, which is sweet, but also some
mild bitterness throughout. I can swear I noticed some fruits in there once or twice.

Mouthfeel: On the thin side. Smooth, slightly coating.

Overall: The drink just screams "Oktoberfest". A nice treat; not overpowering, and easy-drinking. More on the malty side of things, but still somewhat rounded by a bit of hop. A great well-rounded beer if I do say so myself. Drink becomes dull and flat fairly quickly as it warms up. I would drink again, and I recommend.

Red-amber in color with some carbonation and a small head. Really sweet dmell, lots of malts and cereal in the nose. Tastes good but nothing incredible. Also really sweet in the mouth, you really taste the malts. I feel like there is something missing in the mouth, like the taste disappear quickly and doesn't stay in the mouth.

Bottled 9/09/14, picked up in Montreal.

I pop the hard to open cork and without making a sound it still gushes out, most likely over bottle conditioned and not infected, pours a light fizzy airy head that fades fairly quickly, touches of spotty lacing, semi clear chestnut tan slight orange brown color.

Nose brings come cereal grain, toasty, and quickly into sweet caramel with Munich malts, too sweet on the nose at least, a candy like toffee with fruity lager aromas, and some herbal grassy hops cutting through sharply.

Taste brings more candy sweetness at first, but not as well as my mind initially perceived it. More caramel and toffee flavours, a candy biscuity note, with light toasted malt and big cereal grains, a toasted lager malt with some Munich reddish toasty malt. Mild lager note with softness and some fruity flavours. Fair hop presence too, grassy and herbal mostly, little earthy note, mild to fair bitterness. It has some nice malt flavours, a nice Oktoberfest flavor but too much on the sweet candy malts imo. Finish is sticky sweet as it attempts to dry but fails, bit more grassy herbal hop bit big fruity messy lager yeast flavor on the finish, and weird bitterness.

Mouth is med bod, little syrupy, little lager softness but not as light crisp and soft as I expected for a lager, decent carb.

Overall ok, better than most Americanized Oktoberfest style beers, but still falls far short of almost any German one, too much sweet candy and caramel, the lager didn't finish nicely, hops are ok but not perfect and could probably use some tweaking. But still fairly tasty and enjoyable, even drinking a full 750ml myself.

Note: mine was 6.4%, alcohol seems to vary annually.

Amber in color and actually rather cloudy. A beige , maybe slightly khaki like head. One finger minimal retention and little lacing. Munich malt on the nose with a bit a caramel. A bit more hops than I expect in the style. Herbal and spicey. Caramel on the palate. Ever so slightly toasted. Carbonation is bit prickly and pronounces the bitterness in a somewhat harsher way. Overall fairly easy drinking, clean but pretty over priced in my opinion. Carbonation and mouth feel need some work but its nice as a whole.

A:
Pours a ruddy amber-orange with a healthy beige head that settles pretty quickly from three fingers to a decent cap but is easily roused. Very good retention; some specks of lacing. (4)

S:
Fresh, grainy malts with a sweetness almost like licorice. Cereals, bread, slight dark fruits, bark, oats, caramel. (3.75)

T:
Rich and vaguely sweet. Hard water, oats, grain, cereals, touch of yeast; smoky, musty, aromatic finish. (4)

M:
Very nice, smooth-drinking beer. Good carbonation with creamy velvet palate and a nice lingering (but unbtrusive) finish/aftertaste. (4.25)

O:
This is a tasty Oktoberfest beer.
It is a simple, well-made, easy to drink lager that is just refreshing enough and just rich enough for the fall.
It pours very nicely with a large head that sinks but is easily excited. The aroma is pretty nice, but is pretty much just a well-done melange of flavors (it tastes likewise). That is to say, the beer has an aroma/flavor instead of a bunch of individual things that stick out. In my opinion, this characteristic is what makes German beer German beer, but I digress. The palate is exquisite as it is crisp and rich at once with nice bubbliness and a creamy feel from the head.
All-in-all this is a solid beers whose failures (it's lack of a 'wow' moment) speak to how well-put together.
Will have again; worth trying (especially seeing as QC isn't exactly awash in märzens). (4)

EDIT: I just had a bottle of the 2016 version and it is considerably sweeter and more cloying than previous bottles had been. This review confirms that. The one I am drinking now is quite sweet with caramel and less dry spiciness. The rating in the text are from a 2014 bottle. The official ones have been updated for the most recent bottle.

Nearly three fingers of creamy, dense off-white head stand on top of its rich amber orange body. Stringy legs of lace are splashed randomly along the sides of the glass.

Without being overly pronounced, the nose has quite a lot going on. There's lemon rind with a chewy, zesty orange center. A thin layer of toffee seems to coat everything. Unrefined floral and grassy hops are balled up with cracker and wet hay. Being unfiltered, some of the more delicate hop notes come through.

Caramel and orange zest make their home on the middle of the tongue. Its hop character is less pronounced than I expected. It's a bit prickly and predominantly grassy. The bite of alcohol works to amplify everything, especially its sweetness. There's some toastiness that comes through as well. The finish is slightly dry with a touch of alcohol and that caramel sweetness still pulling through. After I read the flavors on the label and "barley sugar" was written, wort-like sweetness is the best descriptor I'd use.

The feel is clean with a medium body. It's unfiltered essence gives it a bit of creaminess. The below average carbonation level really lets the sweetness pull through in the taste and adds weight to the body.

Les Trois Mousquetaires is one of the best lager producing microbreweries in Canada, and this interpretation of a classic lager style attests to that. It's more traditional rather than innovative but there's nothing wrong with that. Very flavorful and very sessionable; two words that don't always go together.
