750 mL brown bottle. One of their Série Signature limited edition beers.

Pours a dark, slightly cloudy, reddish brown with a nice tan head.

Aroma is of toasted grain and burnt sugar.

Lots of roasted and nutty flavours. Definite chocolate notes. Some dried fruit and a bit of tartness towards the end. Finishes with strong black tea. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and carbonation is fairly high.

A bit unusual, and not my favourite of their offerings, but a tasty and interesting beer nonetheless.

Hazy, red pour with a fat white head.

Faint hoppy aroma. A little sweetness, almost honey-like.

Hops and slight fruit in the taste. I get apples.

Mouthfeel is satisfying. Much bigger than 4.1 should be.

Overall, a pretty decent beer. Perfect for a long Oktoberfest session.

750ml bottle from the LCBO, bottled August 1, 2012. Listed at 6% ABV on the bottle.

Copper red, with a semi-fluffy cream coloured head. Spots of lace and mild retention. Heavy caramel/toffee and sweet bready character on the nose, slight earthiness and a very mild hop character. A bit nutty as well. Taste has some bready and grainy character, and retains some sweetness from the malt. A decent bit of bitterness, and perhaps a touch of fruit. Carbonation is higher than I'd desire, and is impeding. Drinkable, but not exceptional.

Production date of 01/08/2012. Label states 6% alc/vol and not the 4% of past editions as mentioned below by fellow BA's.

(4.0) A: Beautiful cloudy burnt orange/rusty looking copper colour with a billowy beige foam head. Very good retention and similar lacing as it really clings to the glass.

(4.0) S: Caramel, toffee, dried dark fruits including dates and raisins, banana, spices, and hints of vanilla. Good complexity and an inviting aroma.

(3.5) T: Caramel coupled with those dark fruits, grainy herbal elements, fruity aspects including a flat grapefruit/orange juice taste, and a healthy dose of spices. Well balanced with a good herbal bitterness and a suitable slight dryness in the finish.

(4.0) M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Thick and chewy texture with some resin.

(3.5) D: Not Les Trois Mousquetaires finest offering but a respectable and good Oktoberfest nonetheless. Happy to see some of their stuff in the local LCBO and hope to see more of it.

Very decent drinking beer, sent to me from all places Alberta and Presario. Pours a good sized head, creamy mouthfeel. Carbonation right there,a good lager. No smoke detected.Neutral aroma, and a little complexity between some bitterness and malts, with the latter winning out.

Bottle listed ABV as 6%

Copper-amber colour, 2 fingers of dense tan/off white head, lots of lace here as well. Smell is big and bready malts, sweet caramel comes off as well as a bit of earthy-floral notes toward the end. Taste follows the nose with big bready malts, biscuity, sweet caramel followed by a drying earthy bitterness into the finish, a bit of apple juice and fruit flavours. Medium carbonation, medium body, good overall feel. Overall this a nice and tasty Oktoberfest beer but I would have apreciated a smaller serving size, pretty good drinkability.

Corked 750mL from Broue Ha Ha in Gatineau. Brewed in August of this year.

Poured into a dimpled stein. Brilliant colour on this: a deep ruby toffee, that is slightly hazy, and with a head of decent height and retention. Some lacing bits.

Nose is bread, cereal grains, toffee, caramel and perhaps some dark fruit.

Nice, easy drinking brew. Very malty, good fresh grain character, a little bit of hop bitterness and grape near the finish. Reasonably hearty for a 4%er.

Thin bodied, slight creaminess, carbonation is brief but zesty.

I find it hard to review Oktoberfest brews because I feel they all taste very similar. This one is well made, to be sure, but doesn't do anything overly special. It's just a solid Oktoberfest brew. If you are able to acquire one for the season, certainly do so, but it's nothing to get too excited about. Might be a difference between editions.
