750ml corked and caged bottle poured into matching (well Porter Baltique) glass dec4 2009
a big thank you goes out to hoser for this one

A clear amber with a fair amount of bubbles that pop up from everywhere. thick beige head has good retention and leaves lace well down the glass

S lots of toffee with heavy amounts of malt and hops and perhaps a little grapefruit and tangerine

T not far from the nose and that's a good thing with out doubt. there's a little more citrus then on the nose and a touch of earth, I must admit I was loving this one from start to finish

D such a well rounded beer I can't help but give it a perfect grade here. for the size of this bottle I'm impressed by how quickly I finished it, and could see myself drinking this all day without issues (well I guess issues would depend on how early I woke up that day)

this is a bitter sweet beer drinking experience for me, sweet because the beer is sweet, bitter because I will not see it again for quite some time and that sucks. after looking over my reviews I've decided I'm moving to Quebec to drink beer.

Thanks to hoser for sharing the love with this one.

From a caged and corked 750 ml brown bottle. Pours out a gorgeous clear amber hue, chunky fluffy off-white head with thick swathes of lacing.

Light toasted, caramel malt on the nose, with a good dose of leafy green and earthy hops.

I think the last time I experienced such a well-balanced ale, particularly of this style (or at least pale ales in general) is Fuller's London Pride. This somehow goes a step beyond. Mild caramel, toasted and crystal malt blended smoothly and skillfully with mild earthy, woody, slightly herbal hops. Sweetness of the malt pops up again in the aftertaste to meld once again with spicy, earthy hops, like ballroom dancing that goes on forever.

Mouthfeel also remains on par, smooth, on the full side for the style, good dose of carbonation on the finish, clean and dry.

Leave it to a Quebec brewery to set a precedent on this style. Perhaps a bit more akin to an English Pale Ale, they took those American hops and put them to excellent use. Thus far THE most enjoyable and balanced pale ale I've tried. This one most certainly gets a hell yeah!

Poured from a 750ml bottle. Lots of yummy cereal and spice notes on the nose. Yep, by "Americaine" they mean hopped-up. The billowing white head is enormous and the beer is clear orangey-copper. All the hops promised in the nose is delivered in the mouth--tons of citrus rind and exotic spice. Still pretty well balanced. An excellent pale ale that almost drinks like a low ABV IPA.

haven't tried one of their brews in quite some time

very nice appearance. Deep copper orange, very cloudy, with lot's of of fine carbonation bubbles. Amazing, rich creamy head.

Pale malts, a nice fruitiness with hints of clove and allspice come to mind when smelling this brew

Solid malt backbone, appropriately hopped without going overboard. The added spiciness is an inspired touch.

Solid medium mouthfeel with an almost smooth creamy character

I really liked their interpretation of the style. Well crafted and nicely balanced.

Holy Moses this corks really in here!...

A: Pours a copper shade with a foam head that quickly recedes to semi-creamy looking blanket. A foam ring sticks around on-top while I enjoy this.

S: Biscuity malts, sweet toffee/caramel, floral notes, tart grapefruit, and picking up a faint nut aroma. Very nice with well balanced aromas.

T: Similar to smell with roasted malt notes, bitter floral hops, and that pleasant syrupy toffee taste. Follows with tart grapefruit and also some clove spice. Finishes a little on the dry side, but overall a very well balanced APA.

M: Slightly oily and creamy mouthfeel with about average carbonation.

D: Delicious. Could easily drink this all night, and certainly worth a try. Definitely worth the effort put forth in de-corking this!

750ml bottle bought at a small specialty beer store.

A : Nice golden color, the foam looks creamy, stays a long time and leaves a nice ring on the glass. There is also a lot of bubbles.

S : We can smell some hops and a little sour smell which is appealing, looks like grapefruit.

T : The bitterness is well balanced, hops, floral notes also and we can also taste some cereal grain in the back.

M : A lot of carbonation that we can see in the first place and it is kind of refreshing.

D : Really easy to drink and the ABV is not so high so it would be possible to open another one after this. Defenitely another winner beer from Les Trois Mousquetaires

The beer color is copper, somewhat dark but very clear. The head is soapy like and sticks well to the glass. The aroma presents some wood notes and some floral notes too. I get some earthy aroma too but not dominant. The taste is similar to the aroma however it appears more woody. I would say there is a lack of floral notes in the taste. Mouthfeel is medium body and this one is an easy drinker. Good craft ordinary beer.

Appearance: It has a nice deep hazy orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of floral hops, citrus, grapefruit, some pine, caramel and biscuity malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some floral hops, faint citrus and grapefruit, a piney/grassy bitterness, sweet caramel and biscuity malts.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

750 mL

A- cherry wood topped with tick dirty white head. Lots of tiny bubbles rise.

S- smells good. Pink grapefruit. Malt. Not a whole lot here, but a friend was smoking in the room.

T- like the smell. Wood.

M- smooth, a bit watery.

D- high.

Great beer to get people to try craft pale ale. Ordinary good beer.

750ml Bottle

Appearance - The beer pours a clear copper colour with a large frothy beige head. There is a low to average amount of carbonation showing and there is some very nice lacing on the sides of the glass. The head lasted for over 5 minutes before it finally started to go away.

Smell - hops, caramel, biscuits, herbal/floral notes

Taste & Mouth - The beer has a nearly perfect mouth feel, just the right amount of carbonation that leaves the beer feeling creamy and light. The most noticeable flavours are hops, caramel, and pale malts. There are also notes of biscuit, and some pine. The beer finishes with a malt and hop bitter aftertaste.

Drink - A fairly good brew that I'm happy I tried. The type of hop flavour in this beer is not my favourite, but it's still enjoyable. This beer is worth seeking out.

750ml corked and caged bottle picked up on a recent trip to montreal. sampled june 11/2010.

pours crystal clear deep orange, nearly red at the widest part of the glass and a nice dark amber toward the edges. a huge fluffy cream coloured head forms, dropping very slowly and leaving a bunch of chunky lace behind as it falls.

aroma is nice. multi-grain bread, biscuit, and cracker. light alcohol. pine and light candied citrus. bit of caramel and honey. i think i detect a bit of lagery twang hiding in the background too.

taste is nice. right around medium bitterness level. lightly toasted whole wheat bread. biscuit. bit of cracker. piney and herbal. caramel and a bit of buttery toffee. light alcohol. definitely a bit of that lager character i caught in the aroma, but more subdued.

mouthfeel is good. just under medium body. medium carbonation level.

drinkability is good. pretty well balanced. i'd have liked a more prominent hoppy character from an APA, but liked it otherwise. i think i'll keep my eye out for another on the chance that this one has been sitting on the shelf a little too long.

A: Superb nice color. Amber fully translucent. Goof off white foamy head with medium retention and low lacing.

S: Biscuit malts pretty much dominate here with toasted bread. From the sweets there are: brown sugar, maple syrup, slight toffee and molasses. Light herbal/floral hops detected.

T: Again, very malty and the biscuit malts and toasted bread tastes are very much dominating here. Still quite sweet with good brown sugar, maple syrup, honey and the very slight toffee and molasses. Light herbal and floral hops at the end. Again, quite maltier than expected, but no less enjoyable.

M: Quite big for an APA actually. Rare are the times I say that but I would have preferred a lighter body with the same amount of carbonation (medium).

D: Quite easy to drink, but since the body is a bit bigger than most APA, it ranks average here.

A pleasant surprise! Purchased after Mondial in June and should probably not have been stored this long, but waiting for "a special occasion" and it has held up remarkably well.

Orange-hued amber with decent cappuccino-coloured head. Mouthfeel is decent, but unremarkable. Aroma of caramelized malts and citrus hop elements is really nice, but unfortunately these same hop flavours don't translate into the taste.

Flavour is pleasant, but not as well balanced as I'd choose. The finish is sharp and bitter, without the anticipated tropical fruit. Would have liked to try this fresh, as if it has sweetened and/or mellowed with age, it must have been quite a beast to start!

Bottle from Broue HAHA. From notes.

A - Poured bright. Gold to dark gold with strong carbonation and a two finger off white head. Very loose head with soapy bubble bath appearance. Good half finger of retention with good chunks of lacing.

S - Pine and crackers. A little floral. Strong pine.

T - Pine and a little caramel with creackers and citrus. Grapefruity. More complex than the aroma.

M - Apropriate carbonation, should be a little more bitter with just about none there. Medium body.

O/D - Quite nice. No complaints, just a good APA.

This brew pours a toffee hue with nice carbonation that leaves behind a fast receding two finger head that reforms to a nice rim,the smell is definately bittersweet but mostly sweet with aromas of orange zest, honey, paw paw, caramel and toffee,it has a light-medium bodied mouthfeel which is averagely carbonated and has tastes of caramelized malts, ginger snaps, caramel, toffee and finishes with a nice citrus bitterness that is quite bitter and takes away those sweet tastes pretty fast and overall its a nice drop that probably wouldnt buy again at the price but would not knock back if on tap or offered.

The colour of this one is brownish red bordering on amber. The poofy offwhite head sticks around for a while and leaves chunks of lace down the sides of the glass.

The smell is light with biscuits, grain, honey and floral hops.

In the taste there is medium level of malts, lots of grain, honey and the familiar floral hoppiness. It's decent and the levels are right for drinkability, but it's not going to knock your socks off.

Mouthfeel is clean, crisp and soft. Drinkability is good. This is an easy drinker.
