Semi-cloudy, brownish-orange body; very lively carbonation; thick, off-white head, dense, creamy, rocky. Huge sweetness on the nose; caramel and fruit; apple and pear esters. Rich malt flavors; bready; moderate to bold bitterness; delicate brown sugar. Heavy body; creamy texture; excellent residual sugar smoothness; semi-dry feel overall.

A very nice sticke alt beer exuding rich malt character offset with a prominent bitterness note.

Pours a translucent copper red, with two generous fingers of sudsy head that lastalmost the whole pint and leave thick bands of lacing. The aroma is somewhat muted. I get mostly caramel malt and a faint whiff of alcohol. On the palate are caramel malt, raisin, and strong, grassy hops. I don't taste the toasted bread or nuts that the packaging suggests, which would have come from the Pilsner malt. I don't get that breadiness at all. Between the caramel malt and the bitter hops, it reminds me of an English Bitter. The contrast between the two also creates a nice balance. It's sweet at first, but hops bitterness dominates the finish. The feel is quite smooth. Overall a solid craft beer, and bonus points for attempting a traditional style, and for indicating the types of hops and malts used.

Bottle dated 26/09/2017; 8 months since bottling. Poured into a flute glass at fridge temp.

Appearance: A murky ruby-brown liquid Creates a massive and foamy off-white head that is quite appealing which leaves plenty of lacing in the glass. A layer of foam seems to stay until the end.

Aroma: Malty and like toasty bread. Noticeable maltiness.

Flavor: Mildly complex with different flavors coming in and out. Sweet start. Caramel and nutiness. Some subtle fruitiness. A cocoa-like bitterness on the finish. Definitely not a boring beer.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation.

Overall: A beer for those who like both malts and hops, as they are present throughout. Bordering on the heavier side of things but remaining medium-bodied. It's got the feel of a heavy beer without being overwhelming. Perfect for someone looking for something a heavier than a lager and complex, but not too complex. Fairly easy to drink. A drink you cold pound back, but also sit back and enjoy. I think it sits more on the malty/sweet side, but does transition over to more hoppy and dry at the end so you get the best of both worlds. Just a tad too sweet for my liking but not offputting by any means.

A perfect fall drink. A drink fit for a mug or a stein.

I would drink again. I recommend.

Appearance: pours a copper to reddish color. a two finger plus foamy tannish head. good retention leaves behind a small frothy lacing. a bit of chill haze that makes the beer just short of clear, some nice brightness when held to the light.

Smell: strong malty aroma. lots of toastiness, lots of crystal malt sweetness giving off notes of dark fruits to caramel and some burnt sugar.

Taste: opens with some strong maltiness, toasted grains and crystal malts. crystal ranges from caramels to dark fruits and some burnt sugar. small amount of herbal to earthy hop character.

Mouthfeel: full body feel. nice balance despite the large amount of crystal malts. ends slightly bitter.

Overall: a nice alt but I think the malts don't quite make it for me. I prefer the more traditional german malts. the crystal sweetness just doesn't do it for me. nice body and balance though.

Impressive dome-like head. Starts at three fingers thick and settles ever so slowly. Plenty of matrixed lace as the head recedes. Deep, dark copper color. Hazy.

Smell of sweet caramel sugar. Predominately crystal malt toastiness to the nose.

Tastes like an amber ale with a strong hop finish in the swallow. Not nearly sweet as the smell would suggest. The caramel flavor are still present but they are quickly offset by the white pepper bitterness that shows up in the swallow. Moderate aftertaste length. Darker than many alts, but it works.
