Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale glass.

Deep orange body with a good lemon hue. Unfiltered presence with just a nice amount of carbonation, not much, but with pin head sized bubbles cascading evenly. A nice thin but foamy rich two finger even eggshell white head produced, and settles to a simple but good 4 millimeter collar and puck. No lacing. Pretty decent looking.

Really nice fruity tones for the bouquet on this. Hints of apricot and pear interestingly, and a bit of brine like quality. Very herbal smelling perhaps some of that corriander that my nose doesn't always grab as easy is being picked up. Real nice wheat chewy quality, just a hint of bakery goodness. Excellent aroma.

Palate sort of washes a bit neutral. Soda and radler like finish but without the sweetness. Malt and chewy density sort of left behind but washes clean with a good hint of salt character. Hints of green herbs and spice, even a bit of hop herbality manages to pop out. Heavily mineral though and almost tonic and spritzy in taste and character though. Aftertaste does however manage to bring in some bakery qualities, but it also explodes into orange and lemon citrus qualities too.

It's a real interesting beer, but it comes off just surprisingly too fruity for my tastes, and also has a radler quality to it. It is however a very good beer, but not usually what I look for in this style. I would however recommend this though for fans of the style to give it a go.

From a 330 ml bottle to a tulip.

A-A tall (like two-plus finger) white head drops quickly to a thick cap. The cap has pretty good retention. No lacing is left behind. The beer is nearly clear. (I did not pour the dregs from the bottle, which surely would have changed the appearance). It is light orange-golden with just a few bubbles visible in the liquid.

S-The aroma is mildly tart with a bit of wheat-y, lactic funk. I smell some lemon-lime tartness, grains, bread dough, and a bit of salt.

T-The taste, like the smell, is mildly tart with nice citrus acidity. The same dough and grain flavors are present and I can taste a bit more of the coriander that is advertised on the label. Salt is mild, but adds just a bit of brine to the somewhat funky, fruity flavor.

M-The body is medium to full for the style with lower levels of carbonation, but the beer still drinks pretty easy.

O-This is a pretty tasty beer. It manages to pack a fair bit of flavor into a low ABV package without tasting gimmicky or "tarted up." It is more aggressive than classic German gose, but less salty than many popular examples of the style, e.g., Westbrook. I actually like it this way. I could drink a few of these on a summer afternoon without any problem. My only knock would be the price...this guy is a bit spendy to drink in volume.

Hazy lemonade honey colour. Quarter inch of head that went to a slick quickly. Lots of carbonation but not in definite streams. Light lacing.

Aroma of musty grains. Tangy with slight aroma of sour grapes.

The tastes starts with a mild sour malitness like apricots. Then it goes to sour apples. Leaving a sour aftertaste at the very back of the mouth.

Light feel.

Refreshing light sour ale. Easy drinking on a late summer afternoon at the cottage.

There are no fitter descriptors than balanced and delicate, with nice coriander, herbal, dill and citric notes abound. The palate - the real challenge in gose-brewing - is involving and expertly achieved; The balance between the salinity, acidity, ABV and sourness make this a memorable quencher and really set this one apart. At the tongue the aromatics are restrained but fair and fitting overall.

one of the better gose beers i have ever had, its so bright and herbal, with notes of green tea, sweet lemon balm, coriander seed, lime leaf, and something more floral even, hibiscus or something. its complex but its clean, minimally tart for the style, just very light and drinkable. the salt here is nice too, gives the beer some body and a nice mineral character. with an abv this low too, its one i can drink plenty of, and for what it is, the price isnt bad at all. i am surprised to look and see i havent had any beers from these guys before, i see their stuff around periodically, but have always been turned off by high prices. this one is really really fair. the flavors here are as bright and summery and herbaceous as i have seen in the style, carbonation is fantastic, and the wheat malt base is very flavorful. exceptional example of the style, a nice little twist of being different in here too. i need to find some more!

Bottle pour at Shelton Brothers The Festival 2014 held at Crafted in San Pedro, CA.

Pours a hazy gold with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, fruit, and earth aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour malt, grain, fruit, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has an interesting slight sour flavors.

Serving type: bottle.
