On tap at the brewpub - Dec 20, 2007. Warm honey and fruit aroma, giving the sense of a creamy blackberry cobbler. Pours a rather dense looking purplish brown, with a rim of off-white. Flavor is a singing hot plum sugar, bolstered by lots of fusels and way too much alcohol. Hot and full of bubblegum. Sweet and underattenuated. There’s a nice flavor in there, but it gets buried by the byproducts, sugar and alcohol. Kind of flat as well. Backs out with some Euro Hops.

A: Dark brownish color and hazy in it's presentation. Small head of off white foam. Lower carbonation.

S: Complex. Lots of dark and caramel malts, with a mild note of bourbon. Wood overtones noted as well.

T: Damn, this is heavy. Strong and complex. A dark malt character blooms into a strong note of wood and light bourbon flavors, with some roasted sugar cane flavors. A light floral character is present, and adds to the depth of the beer.

M: Not overly dense or syrupy, yet slightly flat and one dimentional on the palate. Fair.

D: It's a good brew, but one and done would likely be my vote on this one. Worth trying.

On tap at the brewpub. Creamy looking dark brown pour. This one was very strong, but seemed to lack the sweetness and fruit character I expect from a beer like this. Aroma is some dry roasted caramel like malt, and not much else. Mostly roasty grains and overly sweet booze on the palate, coming in really as an overly hot mess. GP continues to miss with its brews for me.
