Holy moly, where do I start. Its amazing when you leave a city then come back in a year. The old concrete beer barn is gone, demmolished, blown up, bamm, replaced by a dunkin donuts. I was initially confused, but I could smell the ale in the wind. It must be in the vicinity here somewheres....

If you're looking to save a buck or two on beer here in the B'lo, this Consumers is it. They are cheaper than Premier (anywhere from 50 cent to $3), and their selection is more well rounded in terms of the continental US.

If you need NY micros, this is the place to go. Other brands: Allagash, Shipyard, Victory, Redhook, Harpoon, Flying Dog, Sam Adams, Anderson Valley, Rogue, Lost Coast, Bear Republic, Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Leinenkugel, the list goes on and on (the keyboard was buring up).

Cheers: Walk in and get treated to a micro onslaught. Sensory overload, make sure you get a hallway pass before entering. make sure the utilities are payed before venturing in, otherwise you will leave maxed out and broke. At least drive a E85 vehicle in case you spend your gas money here- I am sure any of the Southern Tier Imperial Series can double as flex fuel. Blue and Bud is in the back of the store, seperated from it's high class cousins. Calorie burn time: You have to go to the rear of the store to find the coolers with the swill. Bi-weekly buy one get one free 6er specials. Cheaper than Premier. Return empties with ease. 50 cent single cans if you're broke or need a quick roadie. Manager will order any keg that he can get from the distro and is quick to tell you about new selections and sales. Front shelves feature big ass bombers and an array of Belgians to get the old passport stamped. IMO best place in Blo to get NY micros as it is only a couple min drive into Amherst. Going to the other high end locale on Transist could net you a weekend in the lock up. Located in the second safest town (over 100,000) in America.

Jeers: There is always WT present. Customers overheard making fun of the "funny looking expensive beer" (they were buying Bud 18 packs). Leave the credit cards at home cuz they dont accept them cash only. Wonder if they are laundering money- i have some bills that need to go through the wash. Parking lot is somewhat confusing, especially after drinking a sixer of Great Lakes Christmas Ale on the way. Could not find a dumpster to take a whiz on making it neccessary to pee in an empty vitamin water bottle. Lighting is to bright for pasty western New Yorkers- I believe I may have gotten a UV ray burn while wandering the aisles aimlessly and drooling.

This place is the closest to where I live so I typically head over there when I'm in a good beer mood. The selection is decent, they're probably as good as it gets in this region. The growler section gets some nice stuff which is exciting. They have a lot of clear growlers though so watch out.

Prices are pretty reasonable, some cheaper, some more expensive than the nearby Wegmans. It really depends on the brand. I will say the higher priced goodies seem a little more marked up, but within reason as long as they don't stick you with a passed due one.

Their selection is okay, but it's not exactly their fault, a lot of the good beer distributed to New York doesn't make it to Western NY. Well to elaborate they get a ton of really really good stuff, but a few things don't make it that I'm used to seeing at home (e.g. Founders)

I have gotten NUMEROUS beers that were well past their freshness dates. Seriously watch out for the dates, I constantly forget, I'm afraid to buy IPAs at this place unless I know they're a new arrival, I won't touch a year round IPA at this place.

The atmosphere of this place is okay, feels like a lot of wasted space, it's not dirty, but not clean either.

The worst part of this place is the service, let me say how horrible this service is. It's seriously horrible, the employees have more fun chit chatting amongst themselves than cashing you out, and when they look like they've noticed you had enough waiting they will begrudgingly walk over. They will say the hello, how's it going, are you looking for anything etc but usually in a very half-hearted tone; there recommendations seem to just be their advertisements. If you see a lets call him "Carl" working there just turn around as an FYI.

I guess they can get away with this since they're the big player in Buffalo. I move away from this cloud haven in October, I'll look forward to that I guess.

Pretty good place; it's my go to beer store, then usually the Consumers on Transit, Wegmans, Village Beer Merchant, then Premier.
The atmosphere is alright; can't complain. Quality is good, place is clean, selection is pretty damn good. Cheapest of all the places in buffalo, but often the service is between decent and crap. Far too many times, I left the place pissed off due to someone giving me crap for buying a lot of beer, or no one being at the register which results in my standing around thumbing my hole getting more frustrated.
