They have a decent section of beer they contract brew. Around 30-35 beers at any one time. They allow you to mix-a-six pack from any beer they have on hand. The beer is the cheapest I've been able to find. This explains the fact that at least every third beer I tried was spoiled. None of the beer was in a cooler. The beers weren't too old so I guess the shipping process isn't real great. Still I hadn't seen these beers anywhere else and they were cheap. Parking was right in front and the neighborhood was clean and friendly. The service is hand-off (behind the register) and not too knowledgeable, but friendly and upbeat.

Trader Joe's is always worth a visit, if only for the variety of stuff they have that you can't get anywhere else. I enjoy the shopping experience there, the hipster vibe or whatever you'd call it. That said, it's not a beer store. They have a modest selection of good-quality craft beers, with quite a few local brews. They also offer a few house brands of wines, beers, and spirits. Check it out anyway - you can always find something good at TJ!

Went here to see what all the hype was about, and not just for the beer. The place emulates a typical small European grocery store with lots of international food items... Mostly from Europe.
The beer section is actually pretty small. They offer their contract brewed beers, along with some craft beer offerings. I'd say there were about thirty different offerings to choose from.
The place was busy and full of careless individuals. One lady about smashed her cart into my 14 month old's hand, and she didn't give two craps when she realized how non observant she was. Due to this, I felt rushed to get out as soon as possible.
The cashier was a nice guy, and noticed I was getting their 2011 vintage ale. He sparked up a decent conversation and suggested I get more than one bottle before I left; however, I didn't.
Overall a decent store, but not a Mecca when considering St. Louis has a lot of good beer shops to choose from.

Edit: They pretty much only carry Mission St. stuff ( which is good) and Trader Joe's stuff, plus some oddball imports. Did not have any Vintage TJ ales that Ommegang brews.
This Trader Joe's is conviently located at a large shopping complex with a World Market, Target and other chain retail stores. I like it because when visiting friends in the St. Louis area, my wife usually wants to shop here, so I end up going to Trader Joe's. The prices are usually really good, especailly for a mixer sixer. They have a nice collection of German ales and European lagers. It also has a nice assortment of Belgian ales (Duvel, Caracole, etc). As for U.S. brews they have a varied selection of beers that often are contract brewed by bigger breweries. Stockyard Oatmeal Stout one regular that is brewed by Goose Island. They also have very nice Trader Joe's beers that Unibroue makes. This is a nice fallback place when I can't get across the river to Corral Liquors or drive out west to Lukas Liquors.

I am not in the St. Louis area very often but this is not a bad place to buy beer. I only went into this Trader Joe's actually because there was a World Market next store and my wife had never been to a Trader Joe's. Honestly they are a chain of yuppy grocery stores. That being said they are clean and always entertaining to walk through. The beer isle was bigger than I had remembered in other Trader Joe's and they let you make mixer sixers for a reasonable price. They have their own brand of beer that is not bad by the way. Lots of craft brews. They also have a huge selection of East Coast fare. I personally bought some Gila Monster, Kennebunkport, Czech Brau and some of the Trade Joe's brand. This was two mixer sixers for just over $16.00. Although I did not buy any they had a good selection of Belgians and Unibroue too.

this is my favorite place to buy duvel because they always have the 750 ml bottles and they always have a lot of them. Service bites at this place, and when you walk in you pretty much know that that is the case becuase it is perpetually busy. The selection at this place in average, they have a good selection for what they have. Unibroue, Duvel, Lindemans, Anchor Steam, Murphys, and a few others that are definitely worth buying. No quality worries here because it seems that they sell all of their beers at a decent rate. Price here is good as well, you can go here and bring 20 bucks and walk out with a nights worth of beer for two people. Though the service wasnt great, the staff is very nice and i've never had a bad experience with them over the many times i've been here. ****my second favorite store only surpassed by whole foods because of whole foods selection and refrigeration. good store for beer and not to mention their foods, which are all great quality and some of which are organic. all of their snacks are healthy and they pride themselves on no trans-fats in any of their foods that they sell, which is another plus for the health conscious shopper. overall, a good store to get some select beers and good, healthy snacks, surely worth a try.
****Update 8-17-2006: Whole Foods and Trader Joes are my emergency stores now, Corral is the place to go, no doubt about it.
