Clear reddish copper color with a thin head that keeps a constant plate.
Very light aroma, especially considering the style. I could get just a light malt sweetness and caramel or toffee.
Flavor with notes of chocolate, red fruits, spices, pumpkin, stewed hops and mild orchid sourness. It felt to me to have the same yeast as their Kolsch that I just had. Dry aftertaste with cocoa lingering notes and a mild bitter and spicy note.
Light body with active carbonation.
This beer has a pleasant flavor though milder and twisted from traditional style. On the other hand it has a unique character (not strong one) and a huge drinkability.

My daugther has gifted me with 2 bottles of Antares, one of Scotch Ale and one of Porter.Sadly to me i had to say her that i didn´t like the Scotch Ale while i enjoyed the second one.

A- An airy white foam that melts down quickly,no lace, reddish to brown colored not perfectly clear.

S- Not too much to smell, just a whiff of tofee.

T- Funky sour taste, nothing enjoyable at all.

M- Light to medium body

O- A beer to avoid.

330ml bottle poured into pint glass 18/8/11

A clear amber with loads of tiny suspended particles being moved around by lots of bubbles but little in the way of head or lace

S faint nutty toffee and a little honey with some dried fruit but I can't pinpoint and very faint smoke

T no booze but not much else either other then what I smell

M thin but well carbonated and a little sticky on the lips

O OK but thats about it, I had no problems with it but faint flavors leaves me a little board

perhaps I'm being a little hard on this one but for Scottish I was expecting a little more

Served in a beer bar in Buenos Aires.

Good deep red colour with small head.

Grass notes in the scent.

Faint tang of hops and nettles fades to a unpleasantley bitter and sour aftertaste making this a difficult drink to finish.

Found Antares range to be variable in quality with only the Porter and Imperial Stout standing out

The colour is brown with a tint of red; the liquid almost clear. The finger thick head is airy and pale beige.

The smell is nutty, a bit sour and bitter in a hoppy way. Some notes of brown sugar and rye bread.

The taste is quite bitter and very malty with sweet notes of pumpernickel and dried fruits. There is a quickly passing dry bitterness that evolves into a sourish bitter aftertaste with some metallic notes and a yeasty flavour of Marmite. The finish is fruity and bitter.

The carbonation is medium strong; the liquid is a little light.

An OK interpretation of the Scottish Ale style. Maybe a little too yeasty and unclean fotr me.

A rare threat...

A: Red with minimal lace.

S: Butterscotch, Toffee.

T: Peaty malts, caramel, yeast, hint of coffee.

M: Smooth, thin liquid. Medium carbonation and wee bubbles.

A nice beer but it died out too fast. I wish the taste could have lasted a bit longer. Still, a well crafted beer.

Bottle courtesy of mgermani: Poured an amber color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of medium caramel notes is definitely weaker then expected. Taste is a mix between some sweet malt with some toffee notes but in the end this just seems to be lacking character. Body is a bit thin with some medium carbonation. It appears this one fell short in a style that seems to be hard to master.

This is a well made example of the style but like other Antares beers I have tried ( baring the great Kolsch) it lacks a real flavour impact. All the right malty notes were there but I felt like the volume was dialed down. This could be a great beer but the thiness holds it back

I was surprised to see a beer other than Patagonia from Argentina.

Not a bad effort at a scotch ale, but it could use some work on it. Dark brown, dirty copper colouring with a fairly thin, slightly off white head.

Faint, slightly sweet smoked malt scent. Scent on this is fairly faint and not overwhelming. Earthy, peaty notes are noticeable.

Rich, smokey malt and chocolate taste. Not over done like some scotch ale's I've had, and as such it doesn't leave a bad after taste. There is a faint malted, unroasted barley finish to this. The flavour is certainly the high point to this beer. Its not as strong as some of the scotch ales, I've had, but the subdued flavours work here.

Other than the slightly watery and thin body, this is a nicely done brew and I can only hope this brewery will be a consistent feature on store shelves here.
