I swung by Mugs for some lunch and brews on my way to the Brooklyn Brewery. We caught them amidst a special Belgain Tasting offering 4 oz snifters of rare or imported brews. It tied up about half of the draft lines, leaving 10 or so for regular prices and regular serving sizes. We enjoyed both, as a variety of tiny snifters wouldn't pair too well with my burger. I don't know if the menu were compromised for the event, but it seemed to be typical pub food of more-or-less average quality. The food was the one thing about the bar that didn't remind me of Brookline MA's The Publick House... well that and the obvious lack of a shrine to the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Seriously, the atmosphere was great, and the bar seemed staffed and visited by knowledgeable people who truly appreciated beer.

Great, pretense free neighborhood bar with an ever changing draft list of quality bees and pretty awesome wings. Dark wood and dimly lit like any good bar should be. The pricing is certainly reasonable, especially when compared to some of the other places in Williamsburg.
The bartenders are all friendly and knowledgable. John rules.
