i happened upon ye old mug's ale house hte other day on my way to the market. and i dug it.
lots of brewerania crap all over the place. there is little doubt that this is a beer bar. nice bar with 3 brass draught towers. a few little tables and some more in the back (i didn't go in the back).
service was helpful although, honestly, i didn't ask for much help. i got friendly service when i needed it. they didn't seem to mind i was a red sox fan either. odd that.
selection was impressive. bout 18 draught lines plus a cask. manymany bottles. it wasn't clear how many they actually had available but i could see some coolers behind the bar and there were 30 or so tasty offerings in there. there was a beer list organized by style and there were some vintage brews listed. there wasn't any crappy crap (one cider, stella, and amstel lite) on tap.
food was the soft spot here. more like a diner than one of the best brewpubs going. maybe i shouldn'ta got the chicken club. not bad, just not great.

Great, pretense free neighborhood bar with an ever changing draft list of quality bees and pretty awesome wings. Dark wood and dimly lit like any good bar should be. The pricing is certainly reasonable, especially when compared to some of the other places in Williamsburg.
The bartenders are all friendly and knowledgable. John rules.
