Mug's is straight up a neighborhood beer bar, it has that old school feel to it yet keeps up with the times and serves some really good beer. Prices are decent, staff is efficient. With nearly 24 taps on during my visit I noticed the selection had dropped a bit ... still good but not a great as the first. Many from Brooklyn Brewery, the a Southampton, Blue Point, Climax ... etc. What can I say ... Mug's is one of the those beer institutions of Brooklyn and you'd be stupid not to drop on by if in the NYC area.

I'll start by saying that the selection of beer at Mug's is great, carrying more than enough draft and bottle beers to seduce even the pickiest of beer geeks. From locals, to domestic and foreign imports, to specials, to vintage beers. And, to boot, the beers are insanely cheap! Most of the bigger, special beers were only $3.75 for a 20oz pint! Others even dipped under $3 ... that's crazy ass insane, of course, in a good way. Every beer that I had was poured well and fresh.

Now pair this with a dark wood traditional pub look, full of nooks and crannies (front bar room, with a rear dining area), a pretty decent jukebox, a solid menu of reasonably priced pub grub, friendly staff and a bartender with beer knowledge? C'mon ... this place has got to be one of the best deals in the NYC/Brooklyn area!

Mug's. I loved Mug's Ale House. What's not to love? If I lived in the area this would no doubt be my local drinking hole.

Love Mug's.
Great, pretense free neighborhood bar with an ever changing draft list of quality bees and pretty awesome wings. Dark wood and dimly lit like any good bar should be. The pricing is certainly reasonable, especially when compared to some of the other places in Williamsburg.
The bartenders are all friendly and knowledgable. John rules.
