Found these at the local Carneceria. $8 a twelve pack ain't bad. Poured into a pils glass. This beer has a decent film head for the type. Decent lacing too. Has that usual golden clear color.

Aroma isn't bad either. Nice pils aroma with a nice maltyness too.

Taste kinda is what you would expect from a beer of this caliber. Like corona but a bit maltier. Think I prefer the crispness of corona if I'm lookin to quench my thirst after some salty Mexican food. It has a slight hop bite in the finish.

Mouthfeel I wish was a bit more dry. High carb.

Overall it exceeds my expectations. Looked pretty cheap. Tasted decent for what it is. Will probably buy it again to have with some tacos.

Malty Corona- Need I say more? I think there is very little difference between this and Corona. Corona tastes flat, skunky, and watery. In other words, it is poorly made. If there was no other beer at a party but this, I would be the designated driver.

One of the better Mexican beers out there that I have had, and my favorite next to Bohemia. Refreshes the palate but not super light, like a Corona or Sol; tastes just right. Great, crisp taste and goes down easy. I wish I could find more of this but they only had one bottle left at my local Total Wine.

12 oz clear bottle with a twist cap.
Born on date stamped on the neck ala Bud.

Pretty nondescript aroma. A little malty a little corn.

Flavor is slightly sweet with a mild bitter bite.

It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Drinkable lawnmower beer.

This beer is fine for what it is---a cheap Mexican lager. It's straw yellow and has a more refreshing taste than a lime-less Corona. Its a great beer to drink on the beach. Take it for what it is.

The first thing i noticied when i drink this one is that "Mexicali Special Dark Beer" is a lot better. The appearance is a blond color, the foam have one finger that nevere disappears; the smell is smooth, slightly spicy and hoppy; in the drinkability, very tasty with food, and is easy to drink; the taste is very simple, some malt and a light pear flavor, don't become offensive; the mouthfeel is refreshing and watery, a little bitterness and low body

A: Bright golden color, two finger white head not very tight, some retention
S: Malty smell not very strong
T: Good fresh taste some bitterness at the end, not very large ending but the flavor of hops remains some in the tongue
M: It feals refreshing, balanced body

Good beer, refreshing, medium flavor

A: with a pale gold color, the body is completely traslucent, nice carb wich generates a richy and compact white head, the retention is good enough, there is almoust no waste left.

S: smells like a macro lager, corrn and butter

T: slightly bitter at the very end, crisping on tongue, not too much flavour, kind of a macro lager just a litlle bit better on body

A beer bought in a supermarket "soriana", a friend of mine tell me about this beer, and i go "hecho madre" to acquire this beer; is a classic in the "mexican - south the border scene" this "pilsner spirit" was created for fight versus the prohibition and do well the things; it comes with a vintage style bottle; bad printed but good;

i try this with a"tortas ahogadas" a mexican specialty food from jalisco and is good, but i got a bad idea from take the tlaquepaque salsa and this beer-if you can try, you can uderstand what i talk- whatever;

I recommend a 80%.

A very old Mexican beer I never had the chance to try before. Found three 6-packs in a local supermarket and couldn't resist buying it. Hope I did. ;-)

Pours a light yellow fizzy brew, with a very small and short living head, that leaves no lacing at all.

Smell is somehow malty, with a very noticeable adjuncts backbone.

Taste is only of adjuncts, somehow the malty nose doesn't make it to your palate.

Mouthfeel if crisp, with some bitterness at the finish.

Drinkability is actually high in a Mexican Summer afternoon, but I guess I won't buy it again.

¡Salud!

Got it at a supermarket that is expanding in the country. The beer was quite sweet but nasty in quality. It is a heavy beer for people who likes cold beer. It has a somewhat dark golden colour. NIce foam and malty in taste. I bought a six pack, and now it's not for sell anymore in that shop.

Appearance: Pours with a thin white head. Nice light honey color. Suprisingly, there was spiderweb lacing left on the surface. Not bad!

Smell: Aroma is traditional American Adjunct with a little sweetness and unfortunately minor skunkiness.

Taste: The flavor is macro adjunct beer. The taste is a little strong for American macro drinkers. The hops are a little sharp, but not in a refined way. The taste is juvenile in definition and depth. This is NOT recomended for novice drinkers.

Mouthfeel: Ok, this is where this selection nose-dives. This brew tastes like a cheap macro beer. Thin...terrible aftertaste, and spastic flavoring. The only thing good about this is that it was over in 12 ounces.

Drinkability: I couldn't wait to be done. This brew sucks.

Prosit!

I liked this beer alot when it first became available in Austin. Yay, a cheap Mexican beer that is actually a little better than Corona! I drank it now and then for about a month. I'm not sure if its just because it is decaying due to non freshness or the old adage about familiarity breeding contempt, but this stuff tastes pretty terrible to me now. Tons of lime and salt or in a michelada and its drinkable, but its barf city on its own.

Pours a golden yellow colour with a heap of frothy head. Much much more than I expected. The head hung around for a bit and left a lot of lacing. Smelled citrussy sweet. More lemony than anything else. Reminded me of Corona (is there any surprise there?). I expected the watery almost tasteless Corona flavour but was met with a citrussy malty flavour that was *gasp* drinkable. Mouthfeel was a bit fizzy but it goes down ok. Not something to seek out but if it were on offer for free I'd drink it.

Mexicali pours light pale yellowish and has little head. It has a skunky taste and smell, but still goes down somewhat smooth. It comes in a clear bottle, which could explain the degraded taste. This is not the best beer from Mexico and is somewhat rare to find in the Midwestern portion of the United States, I procured a six pack at Binny's Beverage Depot in Chicago.

The Mexicali pours the color of corn with a little head. There is a faint malt character in the nose. It is still very light, but is refreshing very cold and has little more malt character than the many Latin American light lagers that are flooding the market. At worst: not much character. At best: Inoffensive and thirst quenching in the heat.

This is a landmark beer for me, as it is the first beer I ever poured down the sink. Maybe I got a bad bottle or something, but to me i literally tasted a metal aftertaste, this is the worst beer I have tasted yet, it makes bud light seem good. I recommend this beer to no one.
