First brewed to celebrate our 25th anniversary, the beer now known as PUCK, a petite saison of just over 4% ABV, won a place in our hearts and in our year-round portfolio of beers. Brewed with premium Pils and wheat malts and fermented with the same yeast strain used to make our renowned Saison, Le Merle, Puck is sharp and spritzy with a delicious flowery, spicy dry-hop aroma—the perfect accompaniment to any celebration, big or small.

Damn I swore I reviewed this one. September 27, 2015 was the initial bottle.
Pours a clean and good clarity golden color with 3/4" white head. A looker. Aroma had a real dry, wheat and barley grain aroma, clean, but yeasty and hoppy florality. Pretty similar to Le Merle, but maybe a bit more on the session side of things.
Taste was like a pilsner and saison hybrid, the nice crisp light pilsner malt, spritzy noble hop like notes, but then the dryness and yeast impact of a saison. Its a good amount of flavor in a tight and light body. A hint more bitter because of the pilsner aspect of the beer and the hopping along those lines. Hefty carbonation levels. Its kind of a unique take on either a pilsner or a saison. I thought it was a fun drink, would bang again if they ever make it. It was affordable (I think a 4pk/$10) which enjoyable + affordable is the magic formula.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter glass
Look:
A dull honey color, with a white jacuzzi height foamy head.
Smell:
Sweet, flowery, spice.
Taste:
White peach, nectarine, then a bitterness layer. Young grapes.
Feel:
Almost a champagne carbonation, that about sums it up.
Overall:
This saison has a beautiful white peach sweetness to it, wrapped in big fizz carbonation. Ends with a citrus rind bitterness. I would drink again because it’s refreshing.

Yellow golden color with a huge head that moved quickly and had great retention.
Aroma with notes of pineapple, honey, white bread, lemon drops and pears.
Flavor with notes of pineapple juice, herbal hops, honey, coriander, lemon drops, champagne and pears. Dry aftertaste with a mild bitterness.
Light body with effervescent carbonation.
Mild Saison that is very easy to drink with quite refreshing notes. Good substitute for session beers. That said, don’t expect the complexity nor intensity of a good Saison, including their Mele which yeast was taken from.

Pours a clear gold with a massive white head and lots of floaties. Smells of faint lemon, herbs, and yeast. Tastes of coriander, orange/lemon zest, light hops, yeast, and some malt, but all the flavors are barely there. Very think crisp body with high carbonation. Overall a sub average saison.

Not bad flavor for a saison, but the lack of alcohol oomph is noticeable.
It was hazy, slightly fruity, definietly yeasty, and over decent. But forgetable, sadly.

This beer pours a bright gold with a fairly large head. The aroma is bright, with black pepper, clove, and loads of floral tones, green bean, and honey. The flavor is light and bright, with clove, black pepper, and a so many flowers, as well as a light salad like quality, like watercres. The mouthfeel is light bodied with lots of fizzy carbonation. Overall this is a tremendous little table beer, with a distinct moreish quality.

Straw yellow color, lot of rising bubbles visible. Very foamy three finger white head, lot of retention. Bouquet is light but hints of grass and yeast come through. Taste is very dry up front, with some tart, grassy notes on the finish. Structure seems a bit unbalanced, however. From North Coast, I’d prefer La Merle Saison.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a semi-hazy burnt yellow color rimmed with a little white foamy cap of a head. Moderate lacing touches the sides nicely. The aroma starts off with some sweet apricots, and apple (red delicious/Granny Smith sort of blend), sly vinous, sweet to bitter crisp grassiness. Lemon sweetness. The flavor brings all of those flavors together sweet with a refreshing spritzy taste. Sly sweet citrusy aftertaste with a quick finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a big crushability about it. Low riding carbonation yields a semi-dry aspect. Overall, decent saison worthy of coming back to.
