Old Stock Cellar Reserve 2014 is a small batch, limited release that has been aged in rye whiskey and wheat whiskey barrels. The aging process gives this world-class beer added layers of complexity and flavor. Bottled in a 500 ml bottle with a cork and wire finish, it is a memorable drink that should be enjoyed as a unique offering.

2018 version poured from a 500ml bottle; razor-thin ring of khaki head caps the dark copper liquid, seems clear to me...apparent sweetness right off the bat as one would expect, lots of caramel, toffee, vanilla, and sweet malts complementing the barrel character and rye spice as you enjoy your glass. Minor notes of oxidation aren't distracting, alcohol is still apparent as well. Overall a good offering of a type of beer I couldn't drink a lot of.

Tawny reddish brown body; relatively thin yet lasting head (but good for a high ABV beer). Rich caramel, dark pitted fruits, and spicy rye aroma. Caramel malts and boozy flavors; figs; light brown sugar. Heavy body; oily plus thickly sweet; alcohol warmth; some residual sugar sweetness but finishes dry overall.
A tasty, barrel-aged old ale, perhaps showing some age after being bottled for about four years. The smell and feel are a bit weaker than I would expect, but the taste is still there for a big beer. Would I buy another bottle? Why not?! Perhaps another stab at this beast on a cold winter's day in the near future may bring new appreciations to things. Still rock solid and a great find...

Released in Sweden April 22, 2016 at #Systembolaget.
Resting in my beercellar since then.
The color of the beer is dark copper and the head is thin and dissapears fast.
Nose: This is AMAZING! So complex nose! Rye whiskey, raisin, prune, chocolate, brown sugar, molasses, fudge, caramel, red berries, oak and vanilla.
Taste: I'm in love! Alcohol, rum, rye whiskey, barrel notes, oak, candied sugar, raisin, nuts, sweet brown sugar, tobacco and hops. This is an explosion of complex flavours! It just have to be experienced.
Mouth: Full body. Light carbonation. Oily and smooth. Sweet and bitter ending.
I usually say that a barrel aged beer should not be cellared when it's on the bottle and that it just lose it's complex barrelaged notes... I have to change my mind. This beer is a 2014 beer that was released in Sweden 2016 and today it is a masterpiece!
A few (5) month's ago I opened the Bourbon Barrel (2013) version from my beercellar and I wasn't THAT impressed. But this one...
I give up! This is a masterpiece!

500ml bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a murky dark woody color with a couple fingers of tan foam that faded into a thin collar.
S: Sweet and sticky nose full of caramel and raisin, brown sugar and vanilla.
T: Sweet almost cloying flavor with tons of leather, caramel, burnt sugar and tobacco, followed by spicy rye and peppery earthy spice, leafy hops, and slight musty oxidization. Finish is full of bitter and leafy hops, and the aftertaste has notes of chocolate and toasted marshmallow.
M: Full thick body, sticky and sweet mouthfeel, kiss of warming booze but the age has really mellowed it out to a tame 13% that drinks like a 10% and helps cut the cloying flavor. Carbonation is fairly tingly and fluffy. Very solid earthy bitterness and tons of peppery and rye spice.
O: Sweet, spicy, bitter, and potent. A delicious sipper.

Shared with a friend on 1/20/18 from the bottle into a tulip glass.
Reddish brownish amber color, no head or lacing, just an o-ring of film around the perimeter. It looks like a cordial.
Great aged aromas; Rye whiskey soaked grain, caramel, red fruit, vanilla, and wood. Strong alcohol.
Flavor rides the aromas with the addition of some churned butter creaminess.
Surprising high carbonation. Tingly, sharp, and mellow at once. Whiskey-like body.
A nice change from bourbon barrel aging, not for the faint of heart.
