2009 vintage, 11.5% ABV. Poured from 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: deep copper, slightly opaque with evident carbonation. Had about 1 finger of head which dissipated rapidly.
Smell: malt, caramel, nut and earth aromas. Quite complex and reminds me of a nut brown ale.
Taste: the alcohol is pretty big in this one. Nutty and a little bit estery; bitter at the front (this may be exacerbated by the alcohol) but with little hop flavor. Good flavor, but you really gotta be prepared for the booziness.
Mouthfeel: a thick tongue-coating syrup which stays the course; naturally, this means the alcohol sticks around. Just a few sips in and I'm sure I'd fail a breathalyzer test.
Drinkability: it's tasty, but it really packs a wallop. A good sipper, but twelve ounces is certainly all *I* need.
