This beer pours a deep mahogany amber color with a tight tan head that holds up. Minimal lacing. Vinous aroma with caramel and dried figs and then a sharp brandyish alcohol kick. Starts somewhat sweet and fruity with a caramel and apple flavor. Underneath there's a roasted earthiness. Alcohol precense is strong, even for this somewhat aged bottle. Tastes like a brandy or cognac or scotch or something along those lines, i'm not completely sure. Hop flavor is almost drowned out by the alcohol but the hops do provide a drying lingering sensation in the back of my mouth. Firm and slick bodied in feel, this beer is quite tasty and goes down well while the flavors hold in the aftertaste for quite some time. Very nice!
