"2005" is the date on my bottle (purchased dec. 2007). ABV is "only" 11.4 on this one.
The smell is faint and primarily composed of alcohol and golden raisin, with some hops coming through. As the beer warms the flavors develop more. An even blend of malt and hops with a pleasantly sweet though not terribly complex taste. Stays wet on the palate with (not surprisingly) verly little carbonation. However, what's really remarkable is how smooth the taste is for the alcohol content, hence my drinkability score. I wouldn't necessarily want to drink this often or a lot, but this aspect of the beer is impressive to me.
