If one can make wine from barley, this is definitely a port.
Sparse little bubbles rise very slowly out of nowhere through the dark cola-colored liquid.
Smells of cocoa, dates, raisins, molasses, smokiness, oakiness, and everything else that is rich, sweet, and brown.
What an enormous flavor! It's almost overwhelmingly tasty. It's comparable to, let's say, the best hot chocolate you've ever had, or maybe the most well-balanced manhattan.
The carbonation isn't terribly present until you take a sip, then a single layer of microbubbles effervesces across the tongue to invigorate the drink. Amazing.
