enjoyed a bottle of this in La Trappe chalice and served with some dry aged porterhouse and grilled bacon.
Pours with some heavy head, lingers briefly, but settles into a nice finger on top of the glass. Looks like a belgian - deep brown and ruby color. Strong nose includes a good deal of caramel and maybe chocolate.
Taste has quite a bit dates in it, chocolate, and maybe fig. Overall a nice dubbel style ale, maybe a little sweet, but pairs nicely with some good meat. Medium body, light carbonation. Overall a good American version of my favorite style beer.
