12 ounce bottle poured into a Spiegelau wheat beer glass.
L: Cloudy dark caramel brown, lively pour creamy khaki head has moderate retention and leaves lace.
S: Belgian yeast, candied sugars, dark fruit and chocolate.
T: Malt forward and rich, dark sugar, mild alcohol, light spice, has a slight raisin like tanginess, hints of tobacco, opens sweet but sharpens by the finish.
F: Creamy viscous feel, carbonation is fairly low.
O: Really nice glass of beer.

Bottle into tulip. On my second try I'm finding this beer decent I guess, but disappointing for Northcoast. Dark pour. Tan head dissipates rapidly. A bit fruity to the nose, vaguely sweet with a bit of a bitter chemical finish. The abv is well disguised. Would not reach for it again. Would try it on tap as maybe my bottles have suffered in some way. Others seem to have better luck

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a stemmed tulip
The beer pours a muddy brown with about a fingers worth of tan head that recedes slowly leaving behind a small amount of lacing.
The aroma is sweet with dark fruit, raisins, molasses, brown sugar, caramel, and a nice yeastiness.
Taste is similar to the nose; sweet with dark fruit, raisins, molasses, caramel, yeast and a nice earthiness. Medium bodied and mild carbonation, lingering aftertaste with a slightly dry fiinish.
Overall this is a very nice beer, and it is one that I would love to revisit

From a 12oz bottle, no date stamp found. Served in a spiegelau ba tulip glass. Recommended serving temperature 55° - probably a little too cold so I’m letting it sit for a few.
Pours a dark plum-brown with garnet highlights. A scant finger of cream-colored foam quickly fades back to a creamy, big-bubbled cap and collar, and a briefly rousable sheet of sudsy lacing.
Nose is earthy and floral with contrasting but complimentary aromas of raisins, carnations, tobacco and vanilla.
Taste is malty-thick, dense and creamy. Tasting fruitcake - thick, liquified fruitcake - cream, tobacco and a sort of pepperminty hop-tingly sensation in lieu of any substantial bitterness. There’s a slight roasted malt character and I can taste brettanomyces, stronger on the back end but still not a defining quality here.
Feel is thick and creamy with fine, bright, vigorous carbonation. Very little sense of the stated 9.4% abv.
Overall, super enjoyable and probably a little underrated really. It makes me question why I spend so much time chasing IPA’s. If this is the sort of thing monks get to drink all day, it makes me question why I’m not a monk. (For the record, I know that we’re talking about the jazz pianist, not actual Benedictines, or whatever).

Poured into a goblet: color is amber, not transparent, head is light tan with fine bubbles and presents less than one finger thick, some spotty lacing remains with a thin top.
Smell is sweet dried fruit, raisin, plum, brown sugar, caramel malt, yeast phenolics and esters, wonderful.
Taste is similar with forward aged/dried fruit, raisin, plum, caramel barley malt, yeast esters with clove notable, earthy dried hops; no real alcohol booziness.
Mouthfeel is lower carbonation, moderate sweetness, low bitterness, sweet lingering feel; enough sweetness to counter alcohol drying.
Overall a great belgian dark strong ale - sweetness, light tart fruitines, aged fruit, yeast esters/phenolics, and hidden booziness.

Aroma of bubblegum, peppermint, malt. Body is a fresh wave of just that, with spices, banana, and rumcake dominating with a lingering aftertaste of bubblegum. Not bad
