saw these at the store and bought a single to test it out.
Pours a nice golden slight orange color, clear with a nice white head that has good retention and leaves nice lacing.
Nose is, in a word, WEAK! Not much in here but a bit of floral sweetness. Hop aromas are thin and soapy, the malt profile smells like it might be ok, some rock candyish sweetness.
Wow. This is like a pale ale at best. Extremely floral hop profile. Flowery and gummi fruitish sweetness. Bitterness is the weakest of weak suaces. Malt profile is ok, a little candy sweetness and not too caramely. The finish goes down very easy and is fairly dry, but this one lacks in overall flavor. There is actually more bitterness on the aftertaste than anywhere else, but even then it is weak. Odd how the bitterness doesn't show until after the finish, and sort of grows to mild by the end of the aftertaste. Still weak though.
Mouthfeel is alright, right around where it should be. Carbonation is a tiny touch too high, viscosity is ok, dryness is appropriate.
Drinkability is ok, but nothing amazing. I could drink a few of these, but I would tire of the flavor quickly. abv says 6.5% on this bottle, and it drinks like...6.5%. hahaha.
Overall this is a mediocre IPA at best, and does not deserve to proudly display "california IPA" on the label, as this will misrepresent the greatest IPA state in the world. This is an ok beer, but nothing impressive and your average West Coast or "california" IPA will be much better. North coast, don't know what your trying to go for here, but...well...yeah...

Bottle: a stubby brown 355mL bottle with a very retro throwback label per the 'Acme' name. Something different.
Appearance: pours a fantastic golden amber with a thick, fluffing off-white head with good retention. Thin lacing across down the entire glass also. Only sporadic fine carbonation visible.
Aroma: orange citrus with sweet malts - predominantly biscuits. A very tempting proposition - I just hope the palate can deliver.
Taste: a big, almost overbearing hop bitterness up front which flows into a sweeter citrus, caramel and biscuit IPA loveliness.
Aftertaste: the bitterness lingers through nicely along with a more defined citrus character. Very nice indeed.
Mouth feel: quite thick in body with a fine yet spritzy carbonation across the entire palate characteristic of a good IPA.
Overall: I wasn't expecting much from the cool yet slightly tacky-looking package, but it sure did deliver. Plenty of citrus and malts, with hop bitterness throughout the session. Very drinkable, and very enjoyable.
