Light golden copper/orange color. Very lively carbonation, among the best I’ve seen in an IPA. Tall white head with large bubbles, not overly dense.
Citrus nose, a touch metallic, and a light malt back.
Damn…this is a good IPA. I’ve been avoiding it as I can’t for the life of me find a bottled on date and well I have no idea how fast these bottles move, but this is a darn good hoppy IPA. The hops aren’t over powering at the start and the malt balances fairly well. The finish is brutally bitter and biting. There may be a touch of alcohol but I’m not sure. The sweetness is rather middle of the road, it adds a bit of quality but doesn’t take over. I think this beer will go over well with people who are on the boarder about hops and the hop heads who don’t believe there’s ever been a hoppy enough beer.
6.5% alcohol is par for the course and this body is pretty par for the course. The carbonation is far more powerful than most, but instead of adding a creamy effect it adds to the bite of the hops.
Overall I’m pretty impressed. This doesn’t touch stone IPA and doesn’t bite like two hearted ale, but beyond those two this might be my favorite easy to find IPA around. I only wish I hadn’t just bought a single bottle as a 6er would be just wonderful!
