Coudy orange with yeast chunks at the bottom of the glass. Nice bubbley head that laces around the glass. Smells fruity with bread like malts. the body is light and crisp. Taste is an up front fruitiness from the yeast and hops. Cracker like malts and wheat balance out the tartness. Very refreshing! A great brew for warm weather!

Traditional cloudy straw-like appearance, aroma was floral and wheat beer-like.Kind of a weak body,a little thin does have some apple tinge in flavor to it.I pretty drinkable but not to comples, have had much better, not something I would probably recommend.

Appearance – Typical cloudy yellow body with a big head that pitted beautifully and laced the glass.

Smell – The yeasty aroma is coupled with spicy coriander and some serious pepper.

Taste – This is more like a Belgian Pale Ale. The yeast is there, but it’s the spiciness that carries the day. There’s also a peculiar tartness to this one that seems out of place.

Mouthfeel – This one is tangy and off-style.

Drinkability – The Blue Star was a struggle to get down.

Another good offering from North Coast. This beer poured a hazy golden color with a huge frothy white head that left great ammounts of lace down my glass. The smell was quite lemon-y with slight grain in there too. The taste was good but did not grab my attention too much. It had a good lemon flavor with a decent ammount of malt and just a touch of bitterness from the hops but nothing that was really interesting. Although is is not the most interesting beer in the world, it is still highly drinkable and would be a great choice for a session beer.

Presentation: 12oz short brown twist, no freshness date.

Appearance: Cloudy pale straw in colour with a frothy dense white head.

Smell: Mellow fruit and yeast with a mild floral noble hop aroma.

Taste: Quite flavourful ... crisp sweet barley and wheat malt, light fruit, hints of yeast, mild tartness and a light refreshing hop bitterness. This finish is well done also, fine floral notes and some drying grain.

Notes: A very refreshingly crisp brew, flavours are delicate and extremely enjoyable. A great American Wheat to be had here.

Pours a cloudy pale straw color out of 12oz bottle, no date. The white head gushes at first, but doesn't stick around for long.

The aroma is domainated by grain. It tastes like a wheat beer, heavy on the wheat, barley, and malt, but has a nice crisp, well-hopped finish.

It's light bodied, but displays good complexity for the style. Very drinkable. A very good choice for a summer beer.

Pours hazy golden color with white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is wonderful, cascade hops. Taste is hop bitterness, not much more. Doesn't linger in finish very long. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium with a little bite from carbonation. This is a great summer beer, too bad it cost $10 for a six pack or I would drink this more. If you like American wheat beers and hops, you'll like this.

Lots of carbonation and haze, a little dark yellow thing going on, good head. Aroma was husky wheat.

Dry finish, gritty taste, seems like the malt percentage that is wheat is really high on this one. A very agreeable beer when that's what you are looking for. I wonder why this isn't more popular given some of the ones that are. Good hydration beer.

On tap served in a pint glass

A - Slighty hazy light gold with one finger white head minimal lacing and minimal head retention

S - Wheat and hint of lemon

T - nice wheat backbone with lemon and pleasant yeast flavors

M - light body moderate carbonation

O - as the temp goes up, down a few of these. Very enjoyable wheat beer with a few nice surprises.

Apricot color, hazy with nice dark yeasties floating around as well. Solid 1/4 inch head after a minute. Good thick lacing. Lightly lemony aroma, some sense of zest, not overly yeasty. Flavor is well done, cottony and rich mouthfeel and a nice thick but not pronounced elements of restrained nutmeg and the barest banana ester. A little sweet grape jelly. Some wheat beers strike it extremly well with me, others fall out in emphasizing one element too much, some have few defining characteristics at all. This is a good middle-of-the-road entry that has the potential to strike it positive with a variety of beer drinkers.

Appears a pale hazy orange golden hue with a vibrantly white foaming head leaving trickled lace as it dwindles down slowly. Aroma: Doesn't have the characteristic yeast notes of the banana clove combo but it is filled with a bouquet of spices and different tones and an underlying citrus tone that blends well with the sharp sweetness of the wheat malt just ties it all together. Taste is a wonderful mix of yeasty mustiness, sharp sweet malted wheat, a mild huskiness to it and definite hops seems a bit medicinal but in a good way if that makes sense. Mouthfeel: Although no chewy there's still a great deal of texture spurred by the healthy amount of carbonation this one goes down as one of the better American wheat beers I have come across. Drinkability: Refreshing perfect for the style for the summertime, I must say. Good overall shot at making a wheat beer every North Coast brew I've tried has been remarkable in their own way, while this one may not compare to Red Seal, Old No. 38, Scrimshaw, or Old Rasputin it really hits the spot. Very solid mild flavors refreshing quality but in the end it hits a tender spot in my heart.

12 oz bottle poured hazy (no effort made to keep sediment in the bottle) yellow-golden with a small temporary head. Like most wheat beers, the aroma was not compelling, but the flavor was quite appealing nonetheless. The yeast imparts a fruity aroma and flavor than is rather tropical-with-apricots in the nose and mainly lemony/citrus on the tongue. Lightly tart.

O: an exceptionally refreshing barley/wheat ale, with fine citrus overtones.

On-tap at the Porter Beer Bar in Atlanta.

Pours a hazy lemon-yellow color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving light lacing.

Smells of intense citrus - partly orange and partly grapefruit with hints of lemon. Also present are lighter amounts of wheat twang and clove.

Tastes similar to how it smells, though more like a wheat beer than it smells. Soft wheat flavors kick things off and delve into bright citrus flavors shortly thereafter. Midway through the sip very mild amounts of spices enter into things before fading out before a crisp and mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is alright. It's got a nice thickness however the carbonation was a bit on the heavy side.

Drinkability is good. I didn't have a problem finishing my glass and could have another.

Overall I thought this was a very Americanized wheat with loads of hops. Not a bad thing but know what to expect.

Tap@North Coast. Lemony and tangy, wheaty, grainy malts, a bit short, American wheats never seem to work, and this is no exception. Just not a whole lot happening in here, not yeasty banana esters, just zingy hops and sweet, lightly wheaty, drinkable.

A clear golden yellow in the glass with a half finger of white on top that melts rather quickly.
Aromas are clean fresh citrus, sweet pale malts, and bready wheat spiciness.
Taste is an extension of the aroma. Nicely subtle pale malt, bready or biscuity wheat, a touch of pepper spiciness, a brief hint of citrus hops.
Drying and cleansing in the mouth.
Good stuff.

12oz bottle, part of a pricey sixer up here in the Great White (still) North.

This beer pours a cloudy pale golden yellow colour, with three obese fingers of puffy, weakly foamy, and shiny ecru head, which leaves a bit of coral reef formation lace around the glass as it duly and evenly subsides.

It smells of softly sweet and grainy wheat malt, muddled warm citrus, black and white pepper spice, a bit of over-steeped tea, and herbal, leafy hops. The taste is quite lemony up front, in a sort of lemon meringue pie sense, once that white bready, wheaty malt follows quickly on its heels, with hints of biscuity graininess, and understated grassy, floral, and sort of perfumed hops.

The bubbles are pretty innocuous in their bearing, the body medium-light in weight, and actually fairly smooth, a slight creaminess turtling here and there. It finishes off-dry, the now neutered lemony essence struggling to balance the lingering wheat and pale grain sweetness.

A decent American-oriented wheat ale, the fruitiness (i.e. lemon character) going a long way in differentiating this from the dregs of the masses of the style. Hardly mind-blowing, but agreeable enough, especially as a potential harbinger of the days where I can kick back on my new house's deck with a few rounds of this kind of thing.

A: banana yellows and soft gold hues make up the bulk of this beer. The body is full of life and densely clouded. I find the ice white whipped head as the most impressive characteristic. Lacing is right up there with the best (my pour was violent)

S: smells are few and far between but are definitely wheat-like. I gather grains and a hint of breads. Maybe a squeeze of fragrant lemons and oranges

T: here we have a very straightforward brew. Wheat, pale malts, light spices, and some citrus. Very clean with a slight dryness, nice character overall. Its simplicity is its strong point, makes for a nice drinker

M: very quaffable, mild body, and delicate flavors are hard to beat

D: session brew. Accommodating and rewarding, flat out...just a great drinker

Satisfying smooth drinking wheat beer. Just nice at end of a long hot day. Good yeast. Grain. Nice sweet malt and hops. Some citrus, vanilla, coriander. Perfect carbonation and mid mouthfeel. Not a big beer, done very well. Its white and also has an Orange hue. Recommended.

A: pours a cloudy golden orange.. got a nice 3 finger head in my weizen glass.. spotty lacing..

S: wheat, slight lemon zest, mild pepper, small hint of bananas with a little overall fruity aroma.

T: wheat with a yeasty fruity ester upfront.. has a slight phenolic quality as well.. mid palate has a mild peppery taste with a small citrus note & very mild lemon rind..

Mf: light bodied with a good easy going carbonation.

O: a decent pale wheat.. has nice flavors, just a tad bit muted.

Pours a hazy orangish yellow with a big mountain of soft, fizzy, white head that has little retention. The nose has a big citrusy, sweet, lemony aroma. The flavor is also very lemony and sweet with some underlying straw notes. There are some strong orange zest notes in the finish. The mouthfeel is very light and the carbonation is light as well.

This is a light and refreshing beer which is nice, but the flavor profile throws me. The lemony, orangey taste is not really what I'm looking for. This would probably be a great summer beer, but overall I'm unimpressed.

Cloudy gold, with a thick head of dense white foam. Minor, but curious "big loop" lace.

Pleasing citrus wheat on the nose. I get some fresh lemony-orange.

Flavor is light, easygoing, with a little citrus spice. Blue Star is refreshing and easy to drink, and likely a superlative gateway to craft beers. Solid and worthy.
