Poured from a 12 oz bottle from a six pack that's been on my shelf for over a month. Served at about 65F. A substantial two finger, beige head, slowly dissapating, foamy, and pearly. Leaves a sticky lace. The body's an opaque dark-brown; very little light breaks through, turning it dark crimson.
Smells dark and roasty. Burnt malts and smoked cedar chips hide a dark chocolate complement. Hop undertones. I think there's maybe a small portion of carmel malt added to the mash. A 4:1 ratio of burnt malts to caramel?
Not as malty as the odors advertise. Water's the first ingredient to hit my tastebuds. Hop bitterness rallys, succeded by something like coffee, but more burnt, like chicory, infused with unsweetened dark chocolate. Very dry, yet pleasantly hopped.
Almost unrecognizable carbonation. A little thick and creamy. If I leave it in my mouth too long it seems to turn my tounge into a charcoal brick.
I don't know how many I can handle in a night. The flavor of burnt grains left in the back of my mouth might warrent a chaser, but I'm too full from the mild, yet filling creaminess.

A: Solid black body. Slightly beige head which dissipates quickly.
S: Not much of a nose but some smokey fudge and caramel.
T: Thick and full of fizz. Smokiness and earth, just on the right side of dry. No chocolate and in fact no malt character at all but there is some caramel in the aftertaste. Sharp and assertive but lacking backbone. Not as hoppy as I was expecting.
O: Totally lacking in malt character and one dimensional but still quite drinkable.
