Found this on sale at a local that's newly selling micro-brews. I can't recall if I've ever had this one before, maybe on a visit to the west coast.
No dating on the stubby brown bottle.
A -- Clear, deep golden color with a very dense, long-lasting, off-white head. Very Pils-like.
S -- Light graininess and mild DMS.
T -- Grainy, almost nutty character up front that folds into a slightly citric, lightly tart fruitiness. Finish is lightly bready with some mild, spicy hops in the aftertaste. Even some mild tart to sour character in the aftertaste with warming. Not lager-like, but not distracting.
M -- Mouthfeel is fleetingly soft & slick to crisp with a medium-light body.
O -- Not a bad drinker, nothing offensive and very refreshing on another hot day, but lacking in any real Pils character other than the look and some light bitterness in the aftertaste. At $7 a sixer, it wasn't a bad buy, anything more and I'd have probably felt ripped-off.
*Edit: Just reading at the N. Coast web site that this beer has won medals in the category "American Lager Ale." While I'm not sure of the BA's definition, if it's anything close to a Kölsch, and NC had labeled this beer as such, I'd have given it higher marks.

If God himself were to drink a beer, it would be this one. It has the light, drinkable texture, all of the alcohol content, and no nasty aftertaste. I can drink this while i eat dinner, or I can come in after mowing my grass and this beer is absolutely amazing. I have had it semi warm and ice cold. Of course Ice cold is the best. The one thing that I truly admire about this beers flavor is that is goes great with any food you make. I truly love it best with a big plate of fried Cod, Fried chips and hush puppies!
