Appearance: Pours a deep orange-copper with huge, frothy, khaki-colored head. Head dissipates slowly, dragging a blanket of lace behind it.
Smell: Caramel, bready yeast, green apple (cider), and citric hops. Smells warm and crisp and very floral.
Taste: Fresh-baked bread and a citric-hop punch. Tastes more like a pale ale than an amber; less sweetness than anticipated and a much bolder hop character than the average amber. Lots of green apple, lemon-lime, and carbonation. Really a unique brew.
Mouthfeel: Big ol' bite to this one. Lots of carbonation and a couple handfuls of hops. Pretty chewy with a medium body. Too much bite for this wiseman.
Drinkability: Definitely not true to its style; tastes more like a pale ale. If it weren't for the stinging carbonation, this one would rank much higher.
