Is it possible for a beer to have a groupie? Well, if so, I'm it. I can't get enough of Red Seal Ale. I look for it everywhere, when I see it on draft at a bar, I always have at least one. And that's the thing about Red Seal; it's a great tasting beer that you can drink all night. So many craft beers are filled with character and flavor but also in the alcoholic stratosphere with levels on par with wine, or sometimes spirits. Red Seal packs in the taste and balances with just the right amount of booze.
This beer is a nice reddish amber drink with loads of floral hops, and a great balanced caramel malt backbone. Crackers pours it in a big 20 ounce pint which is just enough to make me want another. North Coast Brewing has a good roster of beers and Red Seal is the best daily drinker of the bunch. Perfect with food, perfect without food, just about perfect.

A: Pours copper or brass and very clear. Medium to full head. Fantastic retention with a fair amount of lacing throughout.
S: Herbal hops are dominated by caramel malts and vanilla spiced undertones. Faintest hint of apple can be found.
T: Interesting! Incredibly it is sweet at the beginning. Caramel is the most dominant flavor. There is some toast in the middle followed by a supurbly clean finish. Hops present but very mellow.
M: Medium to light bodied. Carbonation is less than expected and takes away from my enjoyment some. I think it would improve the lighter notes in the taste more if the carbonation was higher... but that is a personal thing.
O: I always find myself trying to pair light yet flavorful beers with foods. This beer should be your "type O" : IT GOES WITH ANYTHING. Fact: You could drink this at the tailgate or with a fantastic filet... and no one would be upset. A true jack of all trades. Completely drinkable. A must try for anyone who enjoys North Coast.... but not their best outing.
