Possibly a bit too aggressive of a pour yields a finger and a half of luscious, tight cappuccino foam-like head. The body is a deep amber, captivating, and well carbonated. Awesome retention, and great lacing.
The smell is well-hopped, but not quite to IPA proportions. Grassy hops and bready, mid-to-light malt. Just a hint of herbal, even pilsener-esque hop content.
Definitely a crisp, clean, balanced taste. Hop-forward for the style, perhaps, but it is quickly evened out by a generous helping of malt. Mouthfeel fits the taste well, and is really close to being ideal. Nice, grassy, fresh lemon aftertaste leaves you really wanting more.
I am thoroughly impressed with this offering from North Coast. If I could, I would keep a sixer of this around at all times.
