Shockingly I found this at the SDSU campus bar...the kind of place you'd never expect to find anything but dopey coed's drinking Bud Light. So I got the big 16oz pour....in a plastic cup.
A - Light slightly hazy beer...very Belgian but in a seemingly mass produced way. Solid head from the pour with very good retention
S - Some sour Belgian notes with plenty of Euro hops flavours poking thru. A little hint of booze in there too as this is a strong ale.
T - Pretty good. For a Belgian it is well rounded, with a good yeast flavor propping up the hops. Not terribly bitter or citrusy but kinda just right. This is very much a Belgian beer for American craft beer lovers...
M - Not bad, plenty of carbonation and a solid feel overall. Very much true to style, but thinner then some making this much more drinkable
D - Actually pretty high. I'd down a sixer of this for sure - vs a Maudite or something like that where you wanna really savor it.
Not my fav beer, but a fun alternative to the ol IPA...

Poured bottle into New Belgium globe
A-The appearance has a hazy orange slightly golden looking colored body with less than a half fingered white foamy head that quickly disapates. Decent lacing.
S-The smell has Belgian yeastiness up front with a nice allocation of spices to compliment the aroma.
T-The taste is spicy yet somewhat sweet and a nice complimentary sort of under-shadowed sort of "sweet" tones to give a very nice sort of spicy/sweet/dry aftertaste with a quick dry finish.
M-The mouthfeel has a light to medium body and the carbonation is good for a Belgian Strong Ale.
O-Overall one of my favorite American Belgium Strong Ales. A must try!
