My local store sells this as singles. I got it once, then again, and again. Now I buy for packs as I have come to the realization that this has become a "go to" beer for me. It's a good change of pace from ipa's and stouts/porters. I would like to have a taste test with this and Bedlam from Ale Asylum as they are comparable but I realize I am rating the Pranqster higher. I have only had Bedlam the one time I reviewed it, and have had Pranqster many times. By this I mean they both have qualities of a trippel, a road less traveled albeit enjoyed from time to time. However they both are mellow, more approachable incarnations. Though of course, Pranqster is listed as a "Belgian Strong Pale Ale."
It pours a hazy robust golden ale color with little to no head. Very purdy. Smells tasty. Is tasty. Very light and crisp; carbonated. It goes down easy peazy like a pilsner or something but packs a punch at 7.6%. I imagine it would go well in spring or summer, but it has a richness that makes it good anytime. It's highly drinkable but not really sessionable, per se. It is sweet and fruity and bubblegummy and clovey maybe? Read other reviews if you want that detailed stuff. This would be a great introduction to trippels or the Belgian style as it is so approachable but funky and complex. All I know is, at least in the last 6 months or so, I find myself coming back to this one time and again.

This was a hazy pale golden color, it came with a nice frothy head. Nice nose consisting of soft fruits like pears and apricots plus light spice and bubblegum.

Sweet tasting overall, more fruity than sugary. Mild clove and some other spice at the finish. This has a nice feel. Good stuff.

12oz bottle poured into an Allagash tulip. Yeast roused and poured.

A: Golden-orange color. Very hazy with some yeasty silt in suspension. Fine-bubbled white head holds on at a half inch in height. A thin sheet of delicate lacing eventually slides down the glass, forming rings in its wake.

S: Very floral. Esters of star fruit and pithy orange. Chalky yeast, slightly musty. Light minerality. Browned biscuits and wheat. Zesty little wheat snap. Faint alcohol and medicinal phenol.

T: Pithy orange and lemon, star fruit. Floral hops. Chalky and musty yeast. Toasted biscuit and some creamy wheat. Coriander? Very faint alcohol. Medicinal phenols are tame. Dry finish of yeast, biscuit, faint phenol and pithy hop bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with a sense of weight. Wheat adds a frothy and creamy feel. Lightly scrubbing carbonation still allows the beer to press down on the tongue.

O: The curveball here is all the wheat character. It's not expected, as when you're drinking a Belgian Golden, you tend to look to Duvel for comparison. It really works though. While Duvel is all about clean pilsner malt character and great balance, Pranqster achieves a similar balance, albeit with a wheaty approach and perhaps a bit more complexity because of it. Yeast, malt (and wheat adjunct), and hops all work very harmoniously together, and this ends up being far too easy to finish.

Appearance: Orangish-yellow, cloudy. Head disappeared quickly, no lacing.

Smell: Malt, yeast, spices and honey.

Taste: Floral, good yeast and fruitiness; melons and pears?

Mouthfeel: Low carbonation. kind of dry.

Overall: Very tasty. Being my third or fourth Belgian, I'm starting to find that I really enjoy this style the more I drink it. Hides the 7.6% abv very well.
