Pours a crisp golden haze into a snifter, with a 2 inch foamy head that faded quickly.
Sweet spices on the nose, coriander, hint of nutmeg..
Citrusy on the tongue, spicy also, with a warming alcohol creeping up in the back. Hops are kept to a minimal as they should for the style.
Very refreshing, highly drinkable.
A true example of a Belgian golden ale by an American brewery!
Highly recommended!

A - hazy golden yellow, not much head - slight amount of foam around the glass

S - strawberries, honey, grapes, cloves - slight hint of alcohol

T - a bready taste coming from the yeast (very nice) mixed in with sweet spices and flavors of honey, cloves, cinnamon. a hint of berry lingers as an aftertaste

M - very fizzy! a dry, crisp finish

O - this is a pretty solid beer. it's hard to fuck up a belgian ale - if you're attempting to make it, it's because you know you can pull it off. my only negative comment towards this beer might be a bit one sided, but i wish it was less fizzy and a bit smoother going down. it had a very seltzer/soda like fizz to it, which would be great for a cider or a fruit ale - but when i'm drinking something bready like this (and with a high abv) i would like for it to be a smooth, filling drink.

Had this on tap last night from Taco Asylum. Poured in a pint glass.

A- Finger and a half white head over a pale golden body with nice clarity.

S- Medium malts and a booziness jumps to mind. Has some light fruits to temper the boozy esters.

T- Fruity and muted malts. Quite good with a boozy taste hidden as well.

M- Medium bodied and wet. Kind of chewy.

O- Not my style of beer, but certainly a good example of the style.

I have a lot of respect and appreciation for this beer. A more perfect Golden Strong Ale is hard to find. Consistent, delicious, and unique - I look forward to trying it on tap.

A - Golden and bright. Slight haze.

S - Floral and sweet with a bit of hop.

T - Slightly sweet and citrus. The taste of Pranqster has become my model of Golden Strong Ale even more than Duvel, etc.

M - Effervescent and light.

O - Highly recommended Belgian. Hats off to North Coast.

poured from the bottle into a tulip glass

A - Pours a hazy gold with swirls of yeast in it. A few small bubbles rise to the rocky, four finger, white head. Head is gone halfway down the glass. Leaves a few splotches of lacing near the top of the glass.

S - Nice and big floral nose with a touch of crab apples.

T - Floral yeast and crab apples upfront. The body rides on a backbone of candied sugar with flashes of crab apple hops and musty yeast. A small flash of earthy hops leads to a dry, slightly floral finish.

M - Medium bodied, but super creamy. The beer seems to expand rapidly in my mouth.

To my knowledge, this is my first go with a Belgian Strong Pale Ale. It was certainly very drinkable and smooth despite the high ABV, but I expected more complexity - this beer began to bore me after a bit. I would get another bottle of two again at world market, but I have to believe there are more invigorating versions of this style our there.

Bottle kept in fridge. Poured into a tulip glass.

A- Pours a slightly hazy deep golden with lots of pillowy foamy head that left fairly quickly leaving very mild lacing on the glass.

S- Strong smells of yeast. Sweet malts, and some sweet fruits. Quite bready.

T- Bready. I'm getting some of the dried lighter fruits that were present in the nose. Maybe pineapple, and apricots. Lots of sweet malts. Well rounded. Wonderful.

M- Nicely carbonated. Not overbearing. Good texture. Not overly thick.

O- A solid offering from North Coast. Picked up a 4 pack of this just to try it, and I'm glad I did. Think I'll put one off to the side for a while to see if it becomes more "well rounded"

There was very little lacing or head when poured into a pint glass. It was a cloudy yellow- orange. The smell of pineapple was most prominent to me. The carbonation was enjoyable and the taste was incredible. It was a subtle blend of pineapple, orange and cloves. The favors reminded me of hefeweisse but milder and I found Pranqster more enjoyable. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this beer!
