Served via 12 oz bottle, disappointing considering its reputation and overall score from the community at large

Excellent Belgian style ale, with an Abbey feel to it. Slightly fruit taste but with a good, dry finish. Hint of spices make it more bold. Excellent beer to drink at length!

Has a dark golden body that is slightly transparent. Hard pour generates some head that doesn't stick around much.

Spicy, floral, banana on the nose.

Lots of coriander like spice on the flavor with some pepper. Also some banana and a slight citric element.

Slightly crisp and more body than expected. Ends dry.

Look- solid golden color. I did not get much of a head out of this pour and the lace dissipated pretty quickly until it was gone throughout the rest of the drink.
Smell- fruity, bannana, pear, and alcohol.
Taste- phenolic, alcohol, fruity and spicy.
Feel- dry finish.

A: cloudy; dull gold in color; 2 finger white head that receded to a thin film; nice Belgian lacing;

S: an initial burst of citrus, then coriander mixes in; a little peppery spice;

T: lemon up front; strong coriander by mid-palate - overwhelms everything else; a bit of banana at the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate to high carbonation; dry finish; alcohol is slightly warming;

O: much more coriander that I expected or wanted;

A classic finally reviewed. Here goes:

A: Only mediocre thing about the beer. Pours a small head but with adequate lacing. Also very cloudy and yellow but with good carbonation.

S: Very good. Bready Belgian yeast, candied sugar, coriander, clove, orange peel and lighter spices. Very complex, even if not quite as good as beers from other Belgian beer brewers.

T: Excellent. Bready Belgian yeast, coriander, clove, etc. Follows the nose really well.

F: Thick and bready. Good.

O: Good beer.

a classic for what it is, and probably the best, or darn near the best, belgian style beer made in the united states. one of the originals, thats for sure, and i think it has all the elements. its authentically belgian in appearance no doubt, with a foamy tall white head on it that doesnt fade a bit. the nose is a little sweet, a little bubblegum to it, but more refined fruit notes, pear and yellow plum, even apple to it, lots of esters there, and it translates to the taste, where yeast is really the primary flavor agent, although the beer is well hoppy for what it is, and has a rather sturdy grain base that provides structure and sweetness, almost like a tripel more than a belgian pale in the grain build. it all comes together really well though, a great unity, and this could easily pass as belgian truly. one of those beers that drinks so easy though you dont realize how strong it is. a specimen in that regard! look out! possibly my favorite all the time beer from north coast.

Other than saying it is an orgasm in my mouth lol....

It has a buttery finish to a kicking strong taste.
It starts off to some with you being able to taste the alcohol.
if you let it sit in the "bitter" part of your taste buds (closer to the back) then you can experience a buttery finish.

Some people might not experience it, but to me it has a clean butter/cream white Belgium ale taste.

The alcohol content does take some getting used too!

Hello,

Wine was giving me headaches so I wanted to like beer but it was not happening until... a friend introduced me to Pranqster. Wow, this beer is awesome. Then I had a friend who barely drinks try it and she ordered her own, which is very unusual for her. Great job.

A strong fruit and wheat start. But the favors only get more complex as you drink more. Don't settle on a taste, get a pint.

Pranqster has a smooth, subtly fruity taste that dissipates pretty quickly. It looks and feels like a nice Belgian ale should, and it isn't really lacking any one thing, but it doesn't hit you in the face with how good it is—it's a beer I'd drink more than once, but not one I'd gush over to friends.

Lacks the complexity of some Belgian Strong Pales. A delicious ale at a very reasonable price point.

I tried Sierra Nev Heff after seeing all the great reviews...hated it. Same with this. I was blown away with their Scrimshaw Pils and decided to try the brewery's highest rated...it tastes EXACTLY like the S.N. Heff!!! Is this the "Taste" everyone looks for??? Don't get it....

Poured a clear deep gold with a thin white head. The head dissipates quickly. The aroma is mild floral notes and the taste is light and fruity. The body has a light feel and weight and has a good clean finish.
