On the pour, the beer is a somewhat translucent, dark brown, but the result is a glass of black beer. 3 finger, espresso-colored head. Solid lacing.
Aroma is big sweet malts with noticeable coffee roast. Fairly rich and complex aroma with fruit and nuts present as well.
Taste follows the aroma. All the flavors come through at once. Coffee and rich chocolate malts with molasses and syrupy flavors too. Dry nuttiness. The fruits in the aroma don't make it to the flavor--drowned out by the roast and richer malts maybe.
Thin for it's flavor. Creamy with a bit of bite in the carbonation.
