From what I have experienced North Coast Brewing is fairly hit or miss, but I consider this to be their finest brew. Reviewed live.
A = Pours a nearly-black dark brown into my XL snifter. One finger tan head recedes after 90 seconds leaving a ring of bubbles around the glass; in the glass it is completely opaque black.
S = Roasted malts, hops, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and a hint of anise (in that order).
T = Follows the nose. More hoppy than your average imperial stout, but it gives this stout a 'refreshing' aspect that is not common with other stouts. While the coffee and chocolate flavors are experienced last on the tongue, their lasting power is strong and very nice.
M = Decently thick and chewy. Alcohol is very well hidden, and the carbonation is appropriate.
O - I love imperial stouts (perhaps too much), and more often than not I am disappointed by what I find. However, if I am disappointed by one beer, I can always get some Old Rasputin to put a smile back on my face. This beer isn't overly complex, but it is executed very well. Highly recommended.

Aroma: Sweet, bitter, dark chocolate with hints of licorice and alcohol
Appearance: Pours rich black with enormous head that settles into a nice, tan finger of frothy luxury
Taste: Medium sweetness up front giving way to a lightly bitter aftertaste
Palate: Light bodied with a thin oily texture, finishing with a long bitter finale.
Overall: A very good imperial stout
