Appearance - Pitch black brew with a half inch of head that settles and leaves minimal lacing.

Smell - Heavy roasted malt and coffee smell.

Taste - Strong alcohol taste and coffee and hops balance out the heavy roasted malts, but clearly the malts win this battle. Alcohol can be a bit much.

Moutfeel - A sipper as its fairly heavy and a very thick rich flavor. Lightly carbonated as this sort of brew should be.

Drinkability - I could never see myself having more than one unless I was horribly snowed in with nothing better to do with my time. That said its always a great one and done.

12 oz bottle poured into a perfect pint glass

A- black, good foamy head that's a light tan color, good retention, lacing is nice and sticky all the way down.

S- smells of full bodied chocolate, almost ice cream like. Slightly nutty... maybe a little like rocky road.

T- strong chocolate and molasses. Most "milk chocolate" like stout I've had in a while with a very mild bitterness to it. I'm not picking up much coffee at all. Very tasty.

M- very fine moderate carbonation is evident, goes down quickly with a semi-dry finish.

D- A beer to enjoy for sure. No need to rush this one but it doesn't mean I don't want to. For a good stout that's widely available, this one fits the bill.

Wow! Old Rasputin himself is staring me down daring me to partake in this brew. Pours pitch black with a thick dimpled head that stays around and rings the glass for eternity. Smells of roasted malts some sweetness and the alcohol is in there as well. Taste, woa! Intense bitter, almost that of espresso, sweet maltiness is intense with a warming bite of bitter and alcohol for the finish. Basically all flavors are intense, but well balanced. Not for the faint of heart. A most excellent Imperial Stout!
