Poured from a 12oz into a generic snifter.

Appearance: Pours a perfect black with a near-perfect latte-colored head that slowly creeps up and down the side of the glass without much retention

Smell: Notes of chocolate, coffee, anise, and smoke. Big bold nose, very typical of an imperial stout. The sweet chocolate dominates the nose

Taste: Big notes of chocolate and coffee, some other candy sweetness, perhaps caramel. Smaller amounts of anise and smoke. Lingering bitterness. Well balanced flavors, true to the style

Mouthfeel: Thick and substantial, creamy and smooth, with average to below-average carbonation

Overall: A great brew. It's not a style that I'm particularly familiar with, so I don't have a whole lot to hold it up against, but it's certainly very enjoyable in its own right. I imagine (and other opinions confirm) that this would age well. Absolutely worth a shot

Addendum (7/14/2012): I believe that, for the quality of the beer relative to price, this is the best value IRS you can find. My local BevMo carries 12oz bottles at $2.09 each...in my book, that's a steal for a brew of this quality

Poured from tap into pint at Yardhouse Hallandale Beach. Pours a pitch black with thick tan head. It looks fantastic. Smells of clean roasted marshmallow malts and grain. Taste is of roasted grainy malts. Slightly chocolatey but mostly bitter malts. Some sweet campfire roasted mallow notes.
This beer on nitro is soo smooth so I gave it a 5 for mouthfeel. Its smooth without being too airy. Overall, great brew and I probably gave it a bigger number due to the nitro tap.

Pours a very dark, can't-see-light-through-it-dark-Cola kind of way, with fine, dark and persistent head with moderate lacing. Nose is dark, substantial, sweet, aged with moderate alcohol presence and roasted malt (need I tell?). Taste is strong, cooked, char-like coffee, dark chocolate, some dried fruit and plum-like flavors, and ethanol prominence, but well balanced with a bitterness that is decidedly not really a hoppy kind of bitterness after all. Taste profile does not modulate considerably over time. Mouth-feel is meal-like, substantive and filling. Pleasant overall, but I'm not so much big on the style, thinking I need to have a more refined taste in cheese to go along with this steak-of-a-beer-like brew.
