A- Is black as hell with a huge mocha tan head that dissipates to a nice rocky creamy cap the to a half finger.
S- you get a light goldings hop smell at first then it moves into huge toasted malts, bitter chocolate and some coffee and dark fruit in the finish.
T- you start with a good hop bitterness and toasted mault astringency. moves into a good toasted mault and bitter choclate and finishes with some fruity caramel notes and slight alcohol warmth.
M- it coats your mouth all over and its dry but the carbonation is just there enough to clean the palate and leave it at just the right balance.
Overall an amazing beer. A bench mark for the style. only complaint is i can't get enough.

Bottle into standard pint.
No vintage or bottle date visible... I'll assume it's pretty fresh as I bought it from a store that recently opened...
I've had this beer lots of times, and I must say I prefer it with age-- this might be the freshest I've ever had it!
Anyway, getting on to actual beer-related notes;
Looks dark black with deep brownish tan legs. Nice dark brown head of two fingers-- thick and fluffy looking. Really nice.
The smell hits big chocolate malt with some sweet caramel and a giant roasty character. The flavor is much of the same, but it adds a bit of boozy warmth at the dry and smooth finish.
Body is full, thick, and creamy.
Overall-- this is a spectacular beer for $8 per 4-pack! I think it comes out better with a bit of age to help smooth it out a bit, but this entirely palatable and quite a pleasant sipper.
