Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a cloudy golden straw with a fine two finger white head and lacing. Looks like a classic witbier. Aroma of wheat, orange and lemon with a hint of spice. Taste is very nice, wheat, yeast, orange and coriander. Ends a bit abruptly but cleanly with a slight hop and spice flavor. Light bodied but nice mouth feel from carbonation. Very refreshing and true to style. Very nice witbier.

12 oz can into a pint glass.

Pours a slightly hazed gold, with 1-2 fingers of foamy bright-white head. This maintains a thin layer of fizzy froth, which skims the surface and leaves back some sudsy patches of lacing. The aroma is airy feeling in the nose with spices, underlying lemon notes, wheat, and some softer fruit flavors. This has a nice flavorful evenness to it in the nose.

The taste is nice and quenching feeling up front, with notes of lemon and a light rind-like bitterness. Soft fruit and fresh grains work their way in off the sides, while a flush of zesty spices linger into the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, maybe a little lighter, with some prickliness on the tongue that spreads out across the back into a creamy and easy feel.

This was a nice take on an American Witbier with a pleasant amount of flavor coming from that fruit character. The easy drinking body on this was only the icing on the cake. I was really surprised by this one. Good job Maui!

12oz can picked up tonight at Bier Thirty in Bown... Thanks to Chris for pointing out a "new to me" brew... and thanks for the great time!!

Poured into my HotD goblet... Noisy 1" white head dies back very quick... The brew is a standard American Wit hazed light orange.

Nose is pretty good... tons of Mandarin citrus... nice coriander and a healthy grainy background that helps carry the spice additions.

The flavor mirrors the nose perfectly.. Mandarin character really comes out swinging... the coriander is more than present and helps balance the citrus... pale malt and wheat add just enough sweetness to marry the flavors.

The body seems a touch thick for the style... and carbonation may be a touch light.. but I am not complaining.. this will be a staple any time we go hotspringing or camping.

Pours a cloudy opaque orange-brown with a thin white head. Need to pour about 7/8ths then swirl the can to get the particulates out. Darker than most Whites, looks like a Hefeweizen. There is a pretty fade from more brown to more yellow bottom to top. Aroma is unsweetened orange/pineapple, coriander, and wheat. Taste follows aroma - something like pineapple juice over Wheaties. Nice blend of the fruit, wheat, and spice. The finish is pretty flat. Needs some sweetness or more carbonation.

A: cloudy straw yellow, mild light lacing, very hazy carbonation appropriate for the style.

S: Lemon and tart fruit notes, some mango and pineapple

T: Very little of the fruits, more a standard hefeweisen than a Belgian white. It lacks any real pizzaz to really fault it or boost it above and beyond for the style. It is better than a mass produced BMC alternative, but still it feels like the fruit and Belgian spice/coriander is understated.

M: Super crisp and light with a nice frothy, expansive maltiness. There is almost no coating and the beer begs to be consumed in warm weather.

D: This is incredibly drinkable if you enjoy this style and discriminate against adjunct lagers. If they packaged this in 6 or 12 packs I feel that it would sell well if nothing else for its light character and clean finish. However, this is not an exceptionally versatile beer, absent outdoor activities, I don’t see a clear reason to pick this beer over others.

Narrative: “Welcome to Jack’s crispy crab shack, party of 2?” Kellen knew that he was above being a menial host at a touristy seafood restaurant, but, the sea called to him. He didn’t ask to be a 17 year old surf rat raised in landlocked Indiana, but, they say you can’t choose who you fall in love with. He posted pictures of the ocean that he had never seen in his locker. On weekends he would wax up planks of wood just awaiting the day that he could fulfill his destiny as a champion professional surfer. “Today’s special is the gnarly cioppino, enjoy!” He felt a pang of regret looking around at the faux ocean murals, the netting hanging from the ceiling; it all smacked of oppression. He knew he was capable of hitting that salty curl, soon bro, soon. Kellen massaged a piece of abalone in his pocket and thought of the sick pitted pipes that awaited him.

On tap at Pizza Port, Ocean Beach. Served in a small tulip glass. Attractive light blonde with the sudsy look of a Wit. Aside from the price, it's a really nice light beer. More than a hint of Hefeweizen flavors, more fruity than spicy. Just a hint of soap, for some reason. Light and pleasantly spritzy in the mouth.

A little tart, but richly flavored. Light body, as you'd expect, but plenty of flavor in a lower-alcohol beer (listed at 5.2% in the current draft version). One of the better Wits in the American style. No excuse for a dishwatery pale wheat beer when they can make stuff like this.

Crisp and hugely drinkable. Ends on a drier note.

Pour is a hazy pale yellow with thin bubbly head. Nose is good, light peppery, decent yeast tones, and strong lemon behind. Taste isn't quite as bright, the lemon is more subtle but lingers throughout. The yeast is more present and a zesty pepper note. Body is a bit oily and full, carbonation is extremely high and the finish is rather dry.

poured straight from a can [thanks to Tyler Jensen!]....a bright, Bell's Golden Yellow with very little head... smells somewhat sweet, a bit of straw mixed with a bit of fruit, maybe vanilla? but a very refreshing smell... tastes equally nice...This is actually the perfect tasting summer beer, as it opens up and makes the mouth smile right away.... Bit thin on the mouth, yet probably pretty decent for a wit style beer.. Overall, this is a beer I could drink again... after working out in the yard, after going for a run, after a long day of work...its a nice, wake-me-up beer..
