Can served cold into a goblet.

The beer is a vibrant red color with a slight haze. The head is short but very creamy and leaves some good lacing behind.

Aroma is sweet and fruity with a hint of roasted malts. The cherries come through nicely.

Flavor is not as successful. It comes across as a brown ale with fruit added. Not all bad then but the roasted and caramel malts seem to get in the way of the fruit instead of supporting it.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated. Well balanced but leaning towards the sweet.

Overall not a bad beer but it does make me curious about the Jolly Pumpkin version. It's much more expensive so I probably won't be trying it based on this.

12oz can into New Belgium globe

A - pours a hazy mix of brown, red and orange, brakish water comes to mind. Vigorous pour yields less than a finger of magicians head...it disappears as quick as it formed. Leaves a dank looking lifeless pour. Very visually off-putting.

S - with all that is supposed to be in here it's amazing how little this beer smells. If you close your eyes and imagine the passion fruit or cherries you can almost convince yourself they are there...almost.

T - once again, somehow they managed to take all these interesting and different flavors and muddle them together to yield none of them. Not much to say really, for a fruit beer this misses, for an amber which ive also seen it labeled, well it misses that too.

M - well you have to have taste to give an aftertaste right? There is a mild sour tang somewhere near the back end, but you have to really search for it.

O - Ive not had the JP offering but thankfully I hear it is much better than this. If this were someones first craft beer in a can I can bet it would be the last. This is a beer that likely only production due to the collaboration agreement. A beer that is truly far less than the sum of ANY of its parts. Pass

12oz can picked up tonight at Brewforia for a price $3.39.... Poured into my HotD goblet... very VERY short lasting khaki head leaves no lacing.... the brew is hazed sorta reddish/lite brown.

Nose seems more dominated by the passion fruit than the cherries... plenty of dry sorta dark toasty maltiness... even smells a little spicy... everything is just mashed together, very muddy... nothing jumps out at all.

Flavor pretty much mirrors the aromas with a more pronounced biscuit malt element... sorta dirty/dusty... a bit of solvent EtOH too...

Body is standard medium... light carbonation...

I sooo wanted more than this... I was hoping for bright vibrant fruitiness, but the malts dominate in all facets... I mainly wanted to like it more because I have another can and can't see wanting to drink it anytime soon.

Oh well.... Interesting try, but my opinion is it missed a great opportunity by a mile.

The beer pours a hazy brownish-yellow color with a white head. Interestingly, the color varies from the top to bottom of the beer. The aroma has a lot of passion fruit in it, as well as a little bit of yeast and biscuit malt. The flavor is similar. I get some very light tartness from the passion fruit, as well as some nice cherry and toffee notes. There is some yeast notes in the flavor as well. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A- poured from a can into a tulip a murky red color. with a grainy white head. Hardly any lacing.

Smell- so bread-y, I am almost expecting this to be a sour. light fruity-ness almost a citrus/tropical plant smell

T- carmel and bread at first gives way to citrus rind bitterness with a hint of cherries and some passion fruit at the end. Unfortunately my only experience with Lilikoi is in the shave ice department. Definitely not as sweet.

M- lays rather flatly at the back of the palate with a bit of sweetness at the end.

O- I like this, i wish i was enjoying it in the islands. it would be tropical and refreshing. Its a great combination of refreshing fruity-ness with it still being a good malty beer. I would love to try this with some funk on it!

Poured from the can into a tulip glass.

A hazy and dark red amber body is poured, with some fast rising carbonation, producing a head that manages about two fingers and settles slowly. No lacing.

Nose is pretty closed. For a fruity beer of cherries and fruit I am getting nothing here. Some simple malt and a little sense of clove seems to come out.

Wet palate doesn't seem to bring much to the table here, an almost acrid sour finish, leaving a thin toasty brown bread aftertaste. Some juice like tasting feel, but no sense of fruity character at all.

Overall it's just not really doing it for me here, it feels like something is missing.

Pours dark, cloudy amber. Small light brown head sits atop. Head dissipates rather quickly.

Aroma is dominated by lilikoi. Light cherry and malts. Very interesting aroma.

Taste is lilikoi and light cherry. More cherry in the taste than in the aroma, but I still was expecting more cherry flavor and tartness. Malts, light sweetness and light tart come through.

Mouthfeel is med-light bodied and lightly cleansing.

Overall, a very drinkable and refreshing beer. Quite interesting. Of course, if you don't like or are not used to lilikoi, than this beer may be off-putting to you.

Purchased from Bottlecraft for $2.65.

A - ruby red grapefruit with a decent white head that dissipates quickly

S - bready and a little yeasty. Passion fruit notes come through but is faint.

T - Liliko'i is a fruit I've been eating all my life and the taste in this beer is nice. Honestly you have to search for the cherry and I probably would not be able to pick it out if I didn't know it was there. Low bitterness and a nice malt backbone allows the fruit to show. Could use a little more fruit flavor.

M - moderate carbonation and appropriate viscosity for a middle abv red ale

O - having tasted this beer, I think the Jolly Pumpkin version could have real potential with its trademark funkiness. A bit more cherry taste would improve it for me.

Shared by Darrell. Thanks man!

The beer is a hazy sunburst orange with nearly a half inch of off-white head. The aroma offers an odd assortment of fruit cocktail, white wine, booze. The flavor is odd and unrefined. A touch of nail polish adds an unpleasant character to the already odd scent and taste. The feel is light in body with adequate carbonation. Overall, this was a dud.
